ILVE ranges and built-ins we repair

We repair ILVE ranges from all four US series: Majestic II, Nostalgie II, Professional Plus II and Panoramagic. Dual fuel, all gas and induction versions are covered, in widths from 30 to 60 inches. Our ILVE range repair work also extends to ILVE wall ovens, cooktops, range hoods and built-in microwaves.

ILVE was founded in 1969 in Campodarsego, near Padua in northeast Italy. Each range is still assembled by hand there, one at a time, to the buyer's order. So two Majestic ranges can have different burner layouts, oven setups and trim. Your model and serial number tell us exactly which parts your range uses. They are printed on the rating plate.

Common ILVE Majestic problems

ILVE ranges use brass burners with a flame failure device on each one. That safety part is a thermocouple, a small metal probe that sits in the flame. If the flame goes out, the probe cools and shuts off the gas. It is a smart design. It is also the source of one of our most common calls.

• Flame goes out the moment you release the knob. The thermocouple is dirty, bent out of the flame or worn out. Hold the knob in for 5 to 10 seconds first. If it still drops, the probe or the valve needs work.
• Burner won't spark. A cracked spark plug or a wet ignition switch.
• Nonstop clicking. Water from a boil-over got into the ignition switch or the spark generator.
• Oven fan noisy or dead. ILVE electric ovens use a fan for even heat. A worn fan motor bearing growls first, then stops.
• Oven won't hold temperature. A failing element, sensor or control board.
• Oven door gaps at the top. Tired hinges or a flat seal let heat escape.

A quick test helps. Light each burner, hold the knob for a slow count of ten, then let go. If every flame holds but one, that burner's thermocouple is the suspect. Tell us that when you call, and we can bring the right part.

ILVE cooktops, wall ovens and hoods

An ILVE wall oven gets the same fan, element and control faults as the range oven. An ILVE cooktop gets the same burner and ignition faults as the rangetop. On induction models, a zone that won't power on is often a pan that isn't magnetic, or a cooling fan that has stopped. Built-in microwaves fail like most others. Our process for an ILVE repair

Most calls are seen the same day. Ring early. Your tech runs each burner, heats the oven and reads the controls. The home diagnostic costs $79 and is waived when you approve the fix.

A fixed price comes before any work. We only use genuine ILVE parts. Many come from Italy, so we may need to order. If so, your return visit is on the books before we leave. Every ILVE job goes to a tech who is insured, holds a license and cleared a background check. Our repair warranty stands behind it.

Is an older ILVE range worth repairing?

An ILVE is a heavy, hand-built range, often in a custom color that took months to arrive. In most cases a repair is the better move. Burners, thermocouples, igniters, fans and elements are all standard fixes.

The harder cases are rare parts on older or discontinued models, or a cracked oven liner. Parts can take time. We will tell you the wait and the price, and you choose.
