Trusted Appliance Repair Service
We Fix All General Electric Appliances
What We Fix From General Electric
We repair GE refrigerators, freezers, ranges, wall ovens, cooktops, dishwashers, washers and dryers. We also work on the GE Profile and Café lines and on Hotpoint. GE Appliances sells all of these, so many parts and designs overlap. That overlap helps us find parts fast.
A quick bit of background. GE Appliances is based in Louisville, Kentucky. Haier bought it in 2016 and keeps the GE name under license. Its big plant, Appliance Park, still builds washers, dryers, dishwashers and bottom-freezer fridges in Louisville. For the ultra-premium Monogram line, see our Monogram repair page.
GE Refrigerator and Freezer Problems
A GE fridge that feels warm while the freezer stays cold is one of our most common calls. The cause is usually a frosted evaporator coil. That is the cooling coil behind the back panel of the freezer. When the defrost heater or its sensor fails, frost builds up and blocks the air. The evaporator fan can also quit. You may hear it rattle first.
Ice makers are the other big one. No ice often traces to the water valve, the part that lets water into the fridge. A frozen fill tube or a bad ice maker module can do it too. On a GE side-by-side, a leaking water line can leave a puddle under the crisper drawers. Say your GE Profile French door fridge shows water pooling on the freezer floor. That is almost always a clogged defrost drain. Melted frost can't reach the drain pan, so it freezes in the bottom. We clear the drain and check the heater that keeps it open. GE Ranges, Ovens and Cooktops
- Gas oven slow or cold: A worn igniter is the most likely cause. It glows but never gets hot enough to open the gas valve.
- Burner keeps clicking: A wet or failed spark switch, or a bad spark module, the part that sends power to the igniters.
- Electric oven won't bake: Check for a burned bake element first. Look for a split or blister on the coil.
- Touch pad dead: A failed control board or keypad. We test both before ordering one.

GE Laundry and Dishwashers
A GE top-load washer that fills but won't agitate often has a worn drive part or a failing lid lock. Front-load models tend to leak at the door gasket, the rubber boot around the door. A GE dryer that squeals usually needs a new idler pulley or drum rollers. One that runs cold often has a blown thermal fuse.
GE dishwashers most often fail to drain. We clear the filter and sump first, then test the drain pump.
Café units get the same care. Café comes from the same company as GE and GE Profile. The handles and finishes are custom, but the igniters, fans and pumps inside work the same way.
How a GE Repair Visit Goes
Phone us early in the day. Most GE calls can be worked in before evening.
We send GE jobs only to techs who carry a license and insurance and have passed a background check. Yours will test the unit, find the cause, and give you a fixed price. The tools stay in the bag until you agree. The diagnostic visit is $79 for homes. If you approve the repair, you don't pay that fee.
We install genuine OEM parts. For GE, that means the same parts GE Appliances uses in its own builds. Sometimes a part has to be ordered. When that happens, we pencil in the second trip with you right there in the kitchen. Every job is backed by our 30-day repair warranty.
Should You Repair a GE That's Ten Years Old?
Most of the time, a GE this age is worth one repair. GE parts are widely stocked. Igniters, bake elements, dryer belts and drain pumps are common stock. Those fixes cost a fraction of a new unit.
We lean toward replacing when a fridge has a sealed system leak or a failed compressor on an older model. We also think twice when a unit needs a second major repair in a short time. You'll hear the repair cost along with our honest take. The choice is yours.
