Start with the rating plate
No two ILVE ranges are quite the same. The factory near Padua builds each one by hand to the buyer's order. Burner layout, oven count, griddle and trim all vary. So the first thing we ask for is the model and serial number. Both are on the rating plate. With them we can match parts to your exact build.
The Majestic line comes in 30, 36, 40, 48 and 60 inch widths. ILVE builds it with a gas oven, an electric oven or an induction top. ILVE also sells the Nostalgie, Professional Plus and Panoramagic series. We repair all four.
Burner faults on the brass top
ILVE uses brass burners. Its dual burners reach up to 20,000 BTU. Every burner has a thermocouple beside it. This small probe proves the flame is lit. If it cools, the gas valve closes.
- Flame dies when you release the knob. The thermocouple is dirty, bent or worn.
- Burner will not spark. A cracked spark plug or a failed ignition switch.
- Clicking will not stop. Water from a spill sits in a switch or the spark box.
- Inner ring lights, outer ring does not. A blocked port on the dual burner.
- Flame lifts or roars. Gas pressure or the air shutter needs a check.
Try one test. Light each burner and hold the knob for ten seconds. Let go. The burner that quits is the one with the weak probe.
Oven faults on a Majestic
The 30 inch Majestic oven holds up to 4 cubic feet. It is run from a TFT touch display. ILVE uses electronic control to hold the oven at a steady heat. When parts age, that steady heat slips.
An oven that runs cold or hot often has a bad temp sensor. A bake or broil element can burn through, and you may see a blister on it. The fan at the back wears at its bearing. It growls for weeks, then stops. Food then cooks on one side only. A display that goes blank or freezes points at the control board or its power supply.
Heat also leaks at the door. Hinges sag after years of a heavy door. The seal goes flat. You will feel warm air at the top edge and see the oven take longer to heat.
Induction Majestic ranges
On the induction models there is no flame and no probe. The common faults move under the glass. A zone that will not start is often a pan issue. Test the pan with a magnet. If the pan passes, we check the cooling fan and the power board for that zone. A top that shuts off in the middle of cooking is often too hot inside. Blocked air slots under the range can cause that.
What a visit costs
Here is how the money works. A Majestic diagnostic at home is $79. Once you agree to the range repair, we remove that fee. The ILVE quote is set, and it reaches you before we begin. It counts the part and the labor. We carry common igniters, sensors and thermocouples on the truck. ILVE parts that are special to your build may come from Italy. We tell you the wait up front and set the return visit then and there. ILVE range work leaves with a 30-day repair warranty.
Keeping an older ILVE going
These ranges are worth fixing. They are heavy and hand built, and many were ordered in a custom color. Burners, probes, fans and elements are routine work. The rare hard case is a cracked oven liner or a part that is out of production. If we hit one, you will hear about it before you spend a dime past the diagnostic.
Where we repair ILVE ranges
We serve ILVE owners in Northern Virginia, as listed on our Virginia service page. Majestic owners in Houston, in the District, in Chicago and around Los Angeles can book as well. A+ is an independent, family owned company. See the ILVE Majestic appliance repair page for all ILVE products. Our range repair page has general advice. For built-in ovens, go to ILVE wall oven repair. When you book, tell us the width and the fuel type. A 60 inch dual fuel Majestic has two ovens, and we plan more time for it.
