It was founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann, and those two families still own it.
Miele says it tests most of its home appliance lines to simulate 20 years of average use. Miele also notes that this is not a guarantee. In our experience, it does mean the machines are worth keeping running.
Miele dishwashers are quiet and well sealed. They also have smart sensors that stop the machine when something looks off. Here is what we find most.

Washers. A Miele washer that won't drain often has a coin or hairpin in the drain pump. One that won't spin may have an out-of-balance load, or a bad motor board. Door lock faults are common too. See Miele washer repair.
Dryers. Miele wants its lint filters cleared after each cycle. Once they clog, the dryer runs long and may stop. If it still won't dry, we test the heating system and the sensors.

Refrigerators. A built-in Miele fridge that runs warm points to the fan, the defrost system or a dirty condenser.

Many Miele cooktops use induction. A zone that won't start may not sense your pan. Try a pan a magnet grabs firmly. Still dead with the right pan? Then the Miele coil or its power board is the likely fault. On gas cooktops, burner trouble usually traces to a wet igniter or a clogged port.
