We Service All True Refrigeration Appliances

True units we repair

We repair True T-Series and TS-Series reach-in refrigerators and freezers, TSSU sandwich and salad tables, and TPP pizza prep tables. We also fix TUC undercounters, TWT worktops and TG glass-door merchandisers. These are some of the most common coolers in American kitchens. Chances are good we've fixed your model before.

True Manufacturing was founded in 1945 by Bob Trulaske with his father and brother. It is still family-owned and based in O'Fallon, Missouri. One of its first products was a 40 cubic foot upright freezer.

True cooler troubles and their causes

A True reach-in is a simple machine. That's good news when it breaks. Here is what we find most.

  • Warm box, compressor on. The condenser coil is choked with dust or grease. This coil pushes heat out of the box. On most True reach-ins it sits at the bottom, right where floor dirt and mop water land.
  • Warm box, compressor off. A bad start relay, a failed thermostat or a dead compressor. The start relay is a small switch that kicks the compressor on.
  • Ice on the back wall. The evaporator coil, the cold coil inside, has frozen over. A failed defrost timer, heater or fan motor is common. So is a door that doesn't close all the way.
  • Puddle under the unit. The drain line from the coil is clogged, or the pan under the cabinet is cracked.
  • Loud rattle or squeal. A worn fan motor bearing, or a fan blade hitting ice.

Prep tables have their own weak spot. The top rail on a TSSU or TPP sits open to hot kitchen air. When the rail runs warm and the base is cold, the lid, the rail fan or a blocked air path is usually to blame.

Here's a typical morning. A sandwich shop calls because the rail read 48 degrees at open. We find the condenser caked with flour and the rail fan barely spinning. Clean coil, new fan, back to 38 degrees before lunch.

TG glass-door merchandisers face your customers all day. When a TG runs warm, the glass doors are often the reason. Worn door closers and torn gaskets let the doors hang open a crack.

What happens on a True service visit

We schedule most True calls for the same day. Calling early is the best way to get in before service.

Your tech tests the cooler and pins down the fault. The business diagnostic is $149. It's waived if you go ahead with the True repair. You'll see a fixed price first. We only start once you say yes.

Our trucks carry genuine OEM parts. If your True part is on order, the return visit is on the calendar before the tech leaves. You'll get a tech who is licensed and carries insurance. We background check every tech before their first True call. Our repair warranty backs every job.

Repair or replace an older True reach-in?

For most True units, repair is the smart move. Parts for True coolers are easy to find. Fans, relays, thermostats, gaskets and defrost parts are quick fixes.

A burned-out compressor or leaking refrigerant is the bigger decision. On a solid cabinet, a sealed system repair can still make sense. On a unit with rusted shelves, a warped door and a cracked liner, a new cooler may be the better buy. We'll give you both options straight.
