LG appliances we fix

We fix LG French door, side-by-side and InstaView refrigerators. We repair LG front load and top load washers with Direct Drive motors, plus gas and electric dryers. We also service LG dishwashers, ranges, wall ovens and cooktops. From a small leak to a dead board, we can diagnose it.

Common LG refrigerator faults

Many LG fridges use an Inverter Linear Compressor. It runs at variable speeds to save energy. Its drive board adjusts the speed as it goes. So when an LG fridge warms up, we test the compressor and that board, not just the fans.

• Fridge and freezer both warm. We check the compressor, its drive board and the condenser fan.
• Freezer cold, fridge warm. Often ice around the evaporator coil from a defrost failure, or a stuck damper.
• Ice maker slow or stopped. A frozen fill tube, a bad water valve, or an ice maker that iced over.
• InstaView panel won't light. The glass panel lights up when you knock twice. If it goes dark, a sensor or its board may be the cause.
• Water in the crisper drawers. A clogged defrost drain line.

LG washer, dryer and dishwasher troubleshooting

LG washers use an Inverter Direct Drive motor. The motor attaches right to the drum, so there is no belt to wear out. That's good news. When a Direct Drive washer won't spin, we look at the motor stator, the rotor, the hall sensor and the control board.

LG's support pages explain the OE code. It means the washer can't drain. LG says to check for a kinked drain hose and a clogged drain pump filter first. Too many suds can also trip it. LG dishwashers use an OE code for drain faults too. If the filter and hose are clear and the code comes back, the drain pump is often bad. Read more about LG washer repair.

Front load LG washers can also leak where the LG door gasket, the rubber ring at the opening, has torn. A small tear lets water out on every fill.

An LG dryer that won't heat usually has a blown thermal fuse or heating element. On gas models we test the igniter. A thumping drum points to worn rollers. More on the LG dryer repair page.

Booking LG repair: what happens next

We reach most LG owners on the day they phone, and an early call helps. The tech reads any codes on the display and tests the parts behind them.

The LG quote is one fixed number, set up front. The home visit costs $79. Approve the repair and that charge is dropped. We fit genuine LG parts, and the LG repair is covered by our warranty.

LG boards and compressors are sometimes out of stock locally. If so, we book your follow-up before the tech leaves. Your LG tech is licensed and insured, and has passed our background check.

Is it worth repairing an LG fridge or washer?

For a washer, usually. A Direct Drive motor has few wear parts, and pumps, seals and sensors are modest repairs. If the tub bearing is gone on an older front loader, the math changes. We will tell you plainly.

LG fridges are a closer call. Fans, valves, drains and ice makers are worth fixing. A failed linear compressor is a bigger job. Price it against a new fridge, and weigh how the rest of the unit looks. We can give you both numbers on the spot.

LG ranges and a few checks at home

LG gas ranges usually come to us for burners that won't light, weak igniters in the oven or ovens that won't reach temp. Electric LG ranges tend to have a dead element or a failed switch. On models with a glass top, a single zone that stops heating is common. See our LG range repair page.

Before you call, try a few quick steps. Reset the unit by turning off the breaker for a minute. Clean the washer drain pump filter behind the small door on the front. For a dryer, clean the lint filter and check the vent. For a warm fridge, make sure the vents inside are clear and the doors seal.
