Which Migali units we fix

We repair Migali refrigeration and cooking equipment. The cold side covers Competitor Series pizza and sandwich prep tables, reach-ins, undercounters and chef bases. It also covers glass door merchandisers, back bar coolers and beer dispensers. On the hot side we fix Migali ranges, fryers, griddles, broilers and convection ovens.

Migali is a family owned company based in Blackwood, New Jersey. It has been in the business since 1955. Its newer coolers run on R290 refrigerant.

Cooler trouble on Migali prep tables and reach-ins

Most calls start with a line cook saying the rail feels warm. Here is what we usually find.

• Warm pans on the top rail. A lid left open all shift can do it. So can a slow evaporator fan, the fan that moves cold air across the coil.
• Box warm, compressor running. Check the condenser coil first. In a hot kitchen it packs with grease and dust, and the unit cannot shed heat.
• Ice on the back wall. The coil is not defrosting. We test the defrost heater, the timer or control and the drain.
• Water on the floor. The drain line is usually clogged, or the drain pan has cracked.
• Doors that will not seal. A torn door gasket, the rubber seal around the door, lets warm air in all day.

R290 is propane used as a refrigerant. It is efficient, but a sealed system repair on it needs the right tools and care. Our techs follow that process on every Migali leak or compressor job.

Bar coolers and beer dispensers

Behind the bar, the problems look a little different. Back bar coolers live in tight spaces with little airflow. If the grille is blocked by cases or a wall, the unit runs nonstop and still cannot keep bottles cold. Beer dispensers add another layer. Foamy pours often mean the keg box is too warm, not that the tap is bad. We check the box temp first, then the lines.

Migali fryers, griddles and broilers

On gas fryers, a pilot that will not stay lit often points to the thermocouple, a small sensor that proves the flame. On griddles, one cold zone usually means a burner or thermostat is failing. Char-rock broilers clog when grease builds up on the burners. We clean and test before we swap parts.

What happens when we show up

You call, and we aim to arrive that same day. The earlier you reach us, the better that works. The tech checks the unit, finds the cause and names one fixed price before touching a tool. If you go ahead, the $149 commercial fee is waived.

Is a Migali cooler worth fixing?

Usually, yes. Fans, controls, gaskets and defrost parts are cheap next to a new prep table. We fix those on the first or second visit most of the time.

The harder call is a failed compressor on an older, smaller unit. Migali sells at a friendly price, so a sealed system job can land close to the cost of a new cooler. When that happens, we lay out both numbers and let you choose.
