We Service All Manitowoc Appliances

Manitowoc ice machines we repair

We repair Manitowoc ice machines, including Indigo NXT modular units, NEO undercounter units, QuietQube remote systems and traditional remote machines. We also fix Manitowoc countertop ice machines and dispensers. That covers cube, nugget and flake ice. Common repairs are water valves, pumps, sensors, controls and refrigeration parts.

Manitowoc Ice is based in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. You will see its machines in bars, hotels, hospitals and restaurants. NEO undercounter models include a built-in water filter, which helps slow scale. Filters still need changing on time, or they start to choke the water supply.

Why a Manitowoc makes less ice

An ice machine sends water over a cold plate called the evaporator. Ice forms, then the machine warms the plate and the ice drops into the bin. That drop is the harvest. When any step slows down, you get less ice.

  • Thin or cloudy cubes. Scale on the evaporator, a clogged water filter or low water flow.
  • Machine runs but never drops ice. The harvest cycle has failed. We check the sensors and the valve that warms the plate.
  • Low ice output in summer. A dirty condenser coil or a hot room. Air-cooled units need clear space to breathe.
  • Water on the floor. A cracked water trough, a stuck water valve or a blocked drain.
  • Bin full but machine stops early. The bin level sensor is dirty or failing.

Scale is behind a large share of these calls. Manitowoc's own manual says to descale and sanitize the Indigo NXT at least once every six months. Many machines in hard water areas need it more often. The same manual calls for cleaning the condenser on that schedule too.

QuietQube and remote systems

QuietQube machines move the noisy, hot part of the system outside or to a roof. The ice maker inside stays quiet and cool. That is great for a bar, but it adds line sets and an outdoor unit to check. When a remote system slows down, we look at the outdoor coil, its fan and the refrigerant lines between the two parts.

What happens on your ice machine call

A morning call is your best shot at ice by dinner. Most calls get a tech the same day. The tech runs a full check and quotes a fixed price before any work. We waive the $149 diagnostic for businesses when you say go.

Only genuine OEM parts go into your Manitowoc, and our repair warranty covers them. If a part must be ordered, we set the return visit before we pack up. We can also clean and descale the machine on the same visit. Techs on our ice machine calls are licensed, insured and screened before we hire them.

Should you repair or replace a Manitowoc ice machine?

Repair makes sense for most failures. Pumps, valves, sensors, filters and boards are all replaceable parts. A good cleaning alone brings many machines back to full output.

Ice is food, so a machine that grows slime is a health code problem as well as a quality one. A pink or black film in the bin or on the water trough means it is past due for a sanitizing. We can take care of that the same day we fix the machine.

Replacement is worth a look when the evaporator plate is worn or damaged. The same goes for a failed compressor on an older unit. We give you both options and our honest take.
