We repair Thermador Pro Harmony and Pro Grand ranges, gas and induction cooktops, wall ovens and steam ovens. We also fix Freedom Collection refrigerator, freezer and wine columns, plus Thermador dishwashers. Thermador dates back to 1916 in California. Today it is owned by BSH, the group behind Bosch.

Thermador Star Burner and oven problems

Thermador's patented Star Burner has a five-point star shape. It spreads flame over more of the pan. The big version puts out 18,000 BTU. The shape is smart, but it gives food more edges to clog.

Burner won't light. Look for spills in the star points or a wet igniter. If the burner clicks but never catches, the igniter may be cracked. A failing spark module, the part that fires the igniters, is also common.

Flame lifts or burns uneven. A cap that sits crooked or a partly blocked port. We clean and reseat it and check gas pressure.

Wall oven runs cold or hot. A bad temperature sensor or bake element is the usual cause. On some models, a failing control board can throw off the reading.

Steam oven won't steam. Hard water scale is the big enemy here. It clogs the water path and the steam generator. Regular descaling helps. Once scale builds up badly, a pump or heater may need to be replaced.

Oven door locked after cleaning. The door lock motor or its switch may have failed.

Freedom columns and Thermador dishwashers

Thermador's Freedom Collection uses separate columns for fresh food, freezing and wine. Each column has its own cooling system. So when one warms up, we can focus on that column alone. The usual causes are a failed fan, a dirty condenser or a bad sensor. See Thermador refrigerator repair.

With Thermador dishwashers, drain and leak faults top our list. A blocked filter or drain pump causes the first. A leak sensor tripped by a small drip causes the second. We find the drip, not just reset the sensor.

What to expect from our Thermador visit

You call, we set a time. For most calls that time is today, especially if you reach us early. The tech arrives, looks at the unit and tests it.

The home visit is $79. That fee is waived if you approve the repair. We give you a fixed price first, and we don't start until you agree. Parts are genuine Thermador. Our 30-day repair warranty backs every Thermador job we finish. If a Thermador part needs to ship, we put the next Thermador visit on your calendar while the tech is still there. We send only licensed, insured people who cleared our background check.

Repair or replace a Thermador range?

Thermador ranges and wall ovens are built into your kitchen. A new one can mean new cutouts, gas work and trim. For most failures, repair is the smart move. Igniters, sensors, elements and door locks are routine jobs.

Control board failures on older units cost more. We will check that the board is still made before we quote. For Freedom columns, a sealed system failure is the big expense. We will lay out both options plainly.

Before you call, try a few things. For a burner that won't light, pull the cap and grate, dry the parts and reseat the cap flat. For a steam oven error, run the descale program if it asks. For a Freedom column that feels warm, make sure the door closes fully and nothing blocks the vents. If the trouble stays, write down any message on the display. That helps us bring the right part the first time.
