We Service All Speed Queen Appliances

Speed Queen washers and dryers we repair

We repair every current Speed Queen home laundry machine. That means the TC5 and TR series top load washers, the FF7 front load washer, and the DC5 and DR series dryers. We also fix older Speed Queen washers and dryers that have been running for years.

Speed Queen machines are built in Ripon, Wisconsin, and have been since 1908. The brand belongs to Alliance Laundry Systems, a large maker of commercial laundry gear. That shows in the parts. A Speed Queen uses heavier parts than most home machines, and it is made to be fixed.

How Speed Queen washers fail

Speed Queen top loaders come in two styles, and they fail in different ways.

The TC5 uses Classic Clean. It has a real agitator driven by a transmission, a two-speed motor and simple dials. There is no lid lock. When a TC5 acts up, we usually find a worn belt or a noisy transmission. A failed lid switch is common too, and so is a drain pump clogged with a sock or coins. The dial timer can also wear out on older machines.

The TR series works another way. The drum moves instead of an agitator, and there is a delayed lid lock. On a TR7, watch for a lid that stays locked, a washer that stops mid-cycle, or a drum that won't spin. Those often trace to the lid lock, the motor control or the main board.

The FF7 front loader is closer to other front loaders. Leaks at the door usually mean a torn door boot. That is the rubber gasket that rings the door opening. A washer that won't drain has a clogged filter or drain pump. Loud spinning points to worn drum bearings.

Our Speed Queen washer repair page goes deeper on each model.

Speed Queen dryer problems

A Speed Queen dryer that runs but won't heat is our top dryer call. On electric models, the heating element or a thermal fuse has usually failed. On gas models, we test the igniter and the gas valve coils. A dryer that won't start at all may have a broken door switch or a blown thermal fuse.

A long dry time is most often not the dryer's fault. It is a clogged vent. Lint builds up in the duct and traps heat. That also trips the thermal fuse again and again. We check the vent on every no-heat call. See Speed Queen dryer repair for more.

What our Speed Queen service includes

Speed Queen calls usually get a same-day slot if you ring early. The $79 home diagnostic is waived if you go ahead with the fix. We quote a fixed price before we begin, so you know the cost up front.

We use genuine Speed Queen parts. If your part is not on the van, we book the next visit before we go. Speed Queen repairs are done by insured, licensed techs we screened with a background check. The fix carries our repair warranty.

Is it worth fixing an old Speed Queen?

This is the easiest call on our list. Yes, in most cases. Speed Queen machines are made to be serviced. A belt, pump, switch, element or even a transmission is a fair repair on a machine that was built for the long haul. You chose a Speed Queen so you would not have to shop for a washer every few years. A repair keeps that promise.

The exception is a rusted-out cabinet or tub. Then we will tell you a new machine is the better buy.
