We repair Beverage-Air Horizon Series reach-ins in top-mount and bottom-mount styles. We also fix Cross Temp reach-ins, back bars, bottle coolers, chef bases and other Beverage-Air bar equipment. Standard, food-rated and narrow back bars are all on our list. Older units are fine too. We read the data plate and go from there.

Beverage-Air started in 1944 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Its first big product was a horizontal forced-air cooler. Ali Group bought the company in 2008. Its headquarters now sits in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Problems we find on Beverage-Air coolers

Bars are hard on refrigeration. Doors open hundreds of times a night. Units sit under counters with little air around them. Here is what that does to a Beverage-Air cooler.

• Back bar warm, compressor running. The condenser coil sheds heat from the box. Under a bar top, it clogs with lint and sticky dust. We clean it and check the condenser fan that pulls air through it.
• Beer too cold or slushy. A stuck control or a bad sensor can keep the compressor on. The sensor is the small probe that reads cabinet air.
• Ice on the evaporator. The evaporator is the cold coil inside. Heavy door traffic loads it with moisture. A weak defrost cycle then lets frost build until air stops moving.
• Water on the floor. Look for a clogged drain line or a cracked drain pan.
• Glass door fogging. A torn gasket or a sagging hinge lets warm air in around the edges.

Cross Temp models can switch between refrigerator and freezer. Beverage-Air rates them from minus 15 to 40 degrees. If one won't hold the mode you picked, we check the control settings and the sensor before we suspect anything bigger.

Chef bases sit under griddles and charbroilers. That is about the hottest spot in any kitchen. Their drawer gaskets bake, crack and stop sealing. Grease also finds its way into the condenser. A chef base that runs warm every afternoon often needs both a coil cleaning and new drawer gaskets.

Most Beverage-Air calls get a tech the same day. Calling before noon gives us the best chance.

Our tech starts by testing the cooler to find what broke. For bars, restaurants and other businesses the diagnostic is $149. Say yes to the repair and you won't pay it. You see a fixed price up front. Nothing gets replaced until you give the nod.

Only genuine OEM parts go into your Beverage-Air unit. When a part is not in stock, the tech locks in the return visit before walking out. Our repair warranty stands behind the work. Each person we send to a Beverage-Air job holds a license, carries insurance and cleared a background screen.

Is it worth fixing an older Beverage-Air back bar?

Often it is. The parts that fail most are small. Fans, gaskets, thermostats, sensors and door hinges cost far less than a new back bar. A back bar is also built into your bar layout. Swapping it can mean new trim work and downtime.

A dead compressor or a leak in the refrigerant lines is the big fork in the road. On a clean cabinet with solid doors, a sealed system repair can still pay off. On a rusted unit with worn hinges and a cracked liner, we will tell you replacement makes more sense.
