Rational appliance repair from A+ covers iCombi Pro and iCombi Classic combi ovens, older SelfCookingCenter and CombiMaster Plus units, and the iVario Pro. When a combi oven goes down, half your menu can go with it. We try to reach Rational calls the same day. If you approve our repair, you owe nothing for the $149 commercial diagnostic.

We repair Rational combi ovens of every age. That covers the iCombi Pro and iCombi Classic, plus older SelfCookingCenter and CombiMaster Plus models. We also work on the iVario Pro, Rational's multi-use cooking unit. Gas and electric models are both covered. We read the serial plate and check the software first.
Rational was founded in 1973 in Landsberg am Lech, Germany. Founder Siegfried Meister built the first Rational combi steamer in 1976. By 1978 the company made nothing else. The SelfCookingCenter led the line for years. The iCombi Pro took its place in 2020.
A combi oven mixes dry heat and steam. That means it has more systems than a plain convection oven. Here is where problems start.
Steam generator trouble. The steam generator is the boiler that makes steam. Hard water leaves scale in it, a chalky mineral crust. Scale slows heating and can trip safety sensors. The oven may show a steam error or refuse steam modes. Rational builds a care system into these ovens to fight scale. Skipped care cycles are still a main cause of steam faults.
Cleaning cycle won't finish. iCombi Pro and Classic units clean themselves with tabs. A clogged drain, a weak cleaning pump or low water pressure can stop the cycle.
Uneven cooking. The convection fan moves hot air through the cabinet. A worn fan motor or a loose fan wheel leaves cold spots and pale food.
Gas model won't light. On a gas Rational, we test the ignition, the gas valve and the burner blower. The blower feeds air to the burner. Dirt on the blower wheel is common.
Door leaks steam. The door gasket wears out and lets steam escape. It also drips onto the floor.
Core probe reads wrong. The core probe is the spike you push into a roast. The oven uses it to decide when food is done. A bent or damaged probe can overcook a whole batch.
We read error messages from Rational's own manuals. We don't guess from a code list online.
We aim for same-day on most Rational calls. A call at the start of prep gives us the best window.
The tech runs the oven, reads its fault history and finds the cause. For kitchens and other businesses the diagnostic is $149. Approve the fix and that fee is waived. A fixed price is on the table before a single panel comes off.
We install genuine OEM parts only. If a Rational part must be ordered, we set your return date before our tech walks out. Our repair warranty then protects the Rational job. The techs we send to your combi are licensed and insured, and every one has passed a background check before joining us.
Most of the time, yes. A Rational combi costs a lot to replace, and most failures are part swaps. Sensors, pumps, fan motors, door gaskets and steam generator parts can all be changed. A well-cared-for SelfCookingCenter can keep cooking long after the iCombi came out.
The math shifts when the cabinet is badly corroded or the main control needs replacing on a very old unit. It also shifts if you want features only the newer ovens have. We lay out the Rational repair cost and our honest take, then you choose.
We cover Los Angeles, Pasadena, the D.C. area, Northern Virginia, Chicago and Houston. LA and Pasadena kitchens can check our California repair page. Northern Virginia restaurants can see our Virginia service page.
