What Viking appliances can we fix?

We fix Viking gas and dual fuel ranges, rangetops, cooktops, wall ovens, refrigerators, freezers, wine coolers, dishwashers, hoods and outdoor grills. That covers the Professional 5 Series, the 7 Series and the Tuscany line. We also service many older Viking units that are still cooking strong in home kitchens.

Viking launched in Greenwood, Mississippi, in 1987. Fred Carl built it to bring a pro-grade range into the home, and it is credited with starting that whole segment. The Middleby Corporation has owned Viking since 2013.

Viking range and oven trouble spots

Viking ranges are built heavy, but they have their weak points. Here is what we run into most.

Clicking that won't quit. The 5 Series uses SureSpark ignition. If a burner clicks after it lights, water or grease may be on the igniter. A bad spark switch behind the knob is also common. We test each one.

Low or yellow flame. A clogged burner port, a loose burner cap, or a regulator issue. The 7 Series has big 23,000 BTU burners, so a weak flame there is easy to spot.

Oven won't reach temp. On gas ovens, a tired igniter is the usual cause. On dual fuel models, check the bake element and the oven sensor, a probe that reports the temperature to the control.

Convection fan noisy or stopped. The fan motor bearings wear out. Sometimes the blade hits the back panel.

Oven door gaps at the top. Tired Viking hinges or a flattened gasket leak heat, and the knobs get hot.

Viking fridges, dishwashers and wine units

When a Viking refrigerator runs warm, we usually find dust packed on the condenser or a dead evaporator fan. Ice maker trouble tends to come from the water valve. If you hear clicking from the back and the compressor won't stay on, the start relay may be the culprit. Learn more on our Viking refrigerator repair page.

Viking dishwashers usually come to us for drain trouble. A packed filter, a jammed chopper or a weak drain pump are the main causes. Wine coolers lose temp for the same reasons fridges do, just on a smaller scale.

How we handle a Viking visit

Most days we can get to you the same day. Call in the morning if you can. Viking calls get a licensed, insured tech, screened before hire.

First we find the real fault, not just the symptom. Then you get a fixed price for the whole job. You say yes or no. The $79 visit fee is waived when you say yes. We fit genuine Viking parts, and our 30-day repair warranty backs the labor. When a Viking part has to ship, we lock in the second visit before we pack up.

Is an older Viking range worth fixing?

In our view, a Viking range with a solid frame is almost always worth fixing. The steel body and cast grates last a long time. The parts that fail are igniters, switches, valves and sensors. Those are not big jobs.

Refrigeration is a closer call. On an older Viking fridge, a sealed system repair costs a lot. We look at the whole unit first. If the liner is cracked or the doors sag, we tell you. You get the price of the fix and our honest take, then you decide.

Viking outdoor grills and small fixes owners can try

Viking outdoor grills face rain, heat and grease. The usual faults are a weak igniter, a clogged burner tube or a bad regulator. Spiders like to nest in burner tubes. That blocks the gas and gives a lazy, yellow flame. We clean the tubes and test the gas flow.

At home, a few checks help. If a range burner won't light, look for a cap that is out of place. Then dry the burner if there was a spill. If the oven is slow, make sure the right mode is set. A convection setting runs the fan, and bake does not. For fridges, vacuum the grille and coil area every few months.

If your problem is beyond that, give us a call with the model and serial number.
