Lynx grills and outdoor gear we repair

We repair Lynx Professional and Sedona grills, built-in and on carts. We also fix Lynx side burners, Asado cooktops, Napoli outdoor pizza ovens, warming drawers and Lynx outdoor refrigerators. Gas grills with the Trident infrared burner are a big part of our Lynx work.

Lynx launched in 1996. The founders had spent more than 30 years building stainless steel gear for restaurants under the BECA name. Lynx grills show that heritage in their welds and heavy steel. They also pack more parts than a basic grill. There is hot surface ignition and built-in lighting, and some models add a rotisserie and an infrared burner. More parts means more things to check.

Why a Lynx burner won't light

Most Lynx grills use hot surface ignition. Instead of a spark, a small ceramic element glows red and lights the gas. It works well, even in wind. But the element is fragile. Grease, a hard knock from a grate, or plain age can crack it. When it fails, you turn the knob and smell gas but see no flame.

Before you call, check the power. Hot surface ignition needs a working outlet. A tripped GFCI outlet on the patio is a common cause. Reset it and try again. If one burner lights and another won't, the element on that burner is the likely culprit.

A typical call goes like this. The owner turns the knob, hears gas, and nothing lights. The outlet is fine. We swap the cracked igniter, and the burner lights on the first try. The whole job often takes less time than the drive.

Other Lynx problems we see

• Trident burner heats unevenly. The Trident is an infrared burner that can sear hot or cook low and slow. Cracked ceramic tiles or grease on the burner face cause dead zones.
• Grill runs cool on every burner. A regulator stuck in low flow, a blocked venturi or low gas supply pressure.
• Lights stay dark. A failed bulb, a loose wire or water in the switch.
• Napoli oven slow to preheat. We check the burner, the flame sensor and the gas valve.
• Outdoor fridge runs warm. Usually a dirty condenser coil, a failed fan or a bad thermostat.

How a Lynx service call works

Book the visit. We can reach most calls the same day. Call before noon for the best odds. The tech tests ignition, gas flow and burners and explains what failed. That diagnosis is $79 at a home. If you let us do the repair, the fee is waived.

Next comes a fixed price, before any tools come out. We fit genuine OEM Lynx parts. Igniters and tile sets sometimes ship from the factory. When they do, your return visit is booked while the tech is still in your yard. Before we hire a tech, we run a background check. Each one on a Lynx job is also licensed and insured. The work carries our repair warranty.

Is a 15-year-old Lynx grill worth fixing?

Most of the time, yes. The Lynx body is heavy welded stainless steel. It outlasts the parts inside it. Igniters, burners, valves and infrared tiles are all replaceable. A rebuild of the cooking parts is usually a smaller bill than a new built-in grill and the stonework around it.

We would lean toward replacement if the firebox is rusted through or the valve manifold is badly corroded. We will tell you which way we lean and why.
