We Service All Ice-O-Matic Appliances

Ice-O-Matic ice machines we fix

We repair Ice-O-Matic Elevation Series cube machines, including half, full and grande cube models. We also fix GEM pearl ice machines and MFI flake ice machines, plus the bins and dispensers that go with them. Older Ice-O-Matic models are welcome too. We identify the unit from its serial plate.

Ice-O-Matic began in 1952 as Mile High Equipment Co. in Denver, Colorado. Its first Ice-O-Matic cube machine came out in 1970. The brand is owned by Ali Group today and still builds in Denver.

Common Ice-O-Matic problems

Ice machines fail in a few repeat ways. The type of ice you make changes where we look.

Cube machine making little or no ice. On an air-cooled Elevation unit, a dirty condenser is the usual cause. The condenser coil sheds heat. Covered in dust, it slows every freeze cycle. Elevation models can vent hot air out the side or the top. If boxes are stacked against that vent, the machine chokes.

Cubes stuck to the evaporator. The evaporator is the cold plate where cubes form. Scale from hard water makes ice cling during harvest, the step when the machine frees the cubes. We see this often in machines that miss their cleanings. Ice-O-Matic publishes cleaning and sanitizing steps for its units. Follow them and many of these calls never happen.

Cloudy or small cubes. A clogged water filter or a weak water pump cuts the water supply. The machine makes thin, cloudy ice.

Slime or bad taste. Mold and slime grow in the water trough and bin. A deep clean and sanitize fixes it. A bad water filter makes it come back.

GEM or MFI grinding or squealing. Pearl and flake machines push ice through a cold cylinder with an auger, a turning screw. Worn bearings, a tired gear motor or scale on the auger cause noise. Keep running it and damage spreads.

Many bars feed a soda dispenser from an Ice-O-Matic head. If the dispenser runs dry but the machine seems fine, check the bin level control. A sensor that reads full too early will stop production with half a bin.

What an Ice-O-Matic repair visit includes

Most Ice-O-Matic calls get a same-day tech. Calling first thing in the morning helps.

The tech runs the machine through a full cycle and finds the fault. The business diagnostic is $149. Approve the repair and you won't be charged for it. We quote a fixed price before touching the machine.

We put in genuine OEM parts. If one isn't on the truck, the return visit is scheduled before the tech leaves. Ice-O-Matic owners get a tech who holds a license and insurance. Each one passed our background check. What we fix is covered by our repair warranty.

When is an Ice-O-Matic worth repairing?

Most of the time. Pumps, water valves, fan motors, sensors and control boards are routine swaps. They cost far less than a new head and bin.

The tough case is an older Ice-O-Matic with a dead compressor or a refrigerant leak. If the evaporator is badly pitted from scale, that adds to the cost. So does a rusted frame. In that spot we'll price both paths and tell you which way we'd lean.
