Hoshizaki machines we service

We repair Hoshizaki KM Crescent Cuber ice machines in modular, built-in bin and stackable styles. We also fix F-series flakers and DCM cubelet ice and water dispensers. On the refrigeration side we service Hoshizaki reach-ins, freezers, prep tables and display cases. Air-cooled and water-cooled models are both covered.

Hoshizaki America is based in Peachtree City, Georgia, with a second plant in Griffin, Georgia. Its crescent cubers use a double-sided evaporator it calls KMEdge. The evaporator is the cold plate where ice forms. Hoshizaki says the design makes the same ice in half the cycles of a grid-style machine.

Why a Hoshizaki stops making ice

Low ice or no ice is the most common call. Here is what usually sits behind it.

• Dirty condenser. On air-cooled units, the condenser coil sheds heat. Grease and dust cut ice output fast. It is the first thing we check.
• Scale on the evaporator. Hard water leaves a chalky crust. Ice then sticks and won't drop at harvest. Harvest is the part of the cycle when the machine warms the plate to release the cubes.
• Clogged water filter or low water pressure. The machine can't fill for a full batch. You get thin or hollow cubes.
• Stuck water valve or float switch. The float senses the water level. When it sticks, the machine may overfill or never start a cycle.
• Bin control fault. This control stops the machine when the bin is full. If it fails, the machine may shut off with an empty bin.

Flakers have their own weak spots. An F-series flaker pushes ice up with an auger, a turning screw inside a cold cylinder. Worn bearings or a failing gear motor make grinding noises. Don't ignore that sound.

DCM dispensers add a dispensing path. A jammed chute or a worn agitator motor can stop ice from coming out even when the bin is full.

Water-cooled KM models skip the air coil. They use water to carry heat away. A water regulating valve controls that flow. When it sticks, the machine runs hot or wastes water, so we check it on every water-cooled call.

Our process on a Hoshizaki call

Most Hoshizaki calls get a same-day tech. The earlier you call, the better your chances.

Your tech checks the whole ice cycle, from water fill to harvest. The diagnostic for businesses is $149. It's waived if you approve the repair. We quote a fixed price first, and work begins only after you agree.

We use genuine OEM parts. When a Hoshizaki part must ship in, the tech sets the return visit before leaving. Your ice machine is handled by a licensed, insured tech with a passed background check. The work comes with our repair warranty.

Is an older Hoshizaki ice machine worth repairing?

In most cases. Hoshizaki builds its cubers with stainless steel evaporators. Many failures are valves, switches, fans, pumps and controls. Those are small jobs next to a new machine and bin.

When an old Hoshizaki needs a compressor or has lost its refrigerant, that is the big question. If the machine has been cleaned on schedule and the frame is solid, repair can still make sense. If it's badly scaled and corroded, we'll tell you a new machine may pay for itself.
