What is on top of an SKS pro range
SKS builds its pro ranges as dual fuel. That means gas burners up top and electric ovens below. The 48 inch model made news as the first pro range with sous vide built into the cooktop. It also has two induction zones next to the gas burners. A 36 inch model has the same mix in less space. Another 48 inch version swaps in a chromium griddle. The gas side has Ultra-High burners for searing. It also has Ultra-Low burners that can hold a pan near 100 degrees. Newer models have Smart Knobs with a small display on each one.
Sous vide well faults
The sous vide well is a small water bath set into the range top. It holds a steady low heat for hours. When it stays cold, first check the water level. The well will not heat when the water is under the fill line. If the water is fine, we test the heater and the sensor. Hard water leaves scale on the sensor. Then the well reads the wrong heat and cooks too hot or too cool. We clean it and test it against our own meter.
Gas burners and the griddle
A burner that clicks without lighting has a dirty igniter. A burner that lights and drops out when you release the knob has a weak flame sensor. Ultra-Low burners have fine ports that clog with a single boil over. The chromium griddle heats by its own burner under the plate. If it heats on one end only, the burner ports under it are blocked. If it will not light, the igniter under the plate is the likely fault.
Induction zones on a gas range
It is rare to find induction beside gas, so owners are often unsure what failed. Induction will not heat a pan that is not magnetic. Test with cast iron. If the zone still does nothing, the power board for the induction module needs testing. These zones run on the range's 240 volt supply. So a half tripped breaker can kill induction while the gas side still lights.
The steam and convection ovens below
The main oven pairs steam with convection heat. Steam needs clean water and open lines. If a steam cycle quits early or the tank stays full, a pump or a line is blocked with scale. We flush the path and test the pump. For plain baking faults, we check the bake element, the convection fan and the sensor. The 48 inch range has a second, smaller oven with its own parts. Tell us which oven is acting up. For built-in ovens, see SKS wall oven repair.
Visit details and price
We quote SKS range work the same way each time. A tech comes out, often the same day, and tests the range. The diagnostic is $79 for a home. We waive the $79 once you approve the SKS range repair. That range price is fixed, with labor and parts counted. You hear it first. Some SKS parts must be ordered, and we set the return trip before we leave. SKS range slots open at 6 AM and the last range slot is 9 PM, each day. A+ is an independent company. Its SKS range techs hold licenses and insurance, and each range tech passed a background check. Our range work has a 30-day repair warranty.
Why repair beats replacing here
A pro range is heavy, costly and fitted to its space. SKS only launched in 2018, so none of them are old. Nearly every fault is a part swap. Igniters, sensors, pumps, fans and boards can all be changed. We fix SKS ranges in Los Angeles and Pasadena, shown on the California page. Chicago and Houston SKS range jobs are welcome too, as are range jobs near D.C. and across Northern Virginia. See the SKS brand page, SKS cooktop repair or general range repair. If a knob display or the main screen freezes, turn the breaker off for a minute. It is the one fix an owner can safely try on this range.
