LG sells cooktops in three types. Gas, radiant heat and induction. Most are 30 or 36 inches wide.
The gas tops have sealed burners and cast iron grates. Many include the UltraHeat dual burner rated at 22K BTU. It can boil fast or drop to a low simmer. Some have knobs that light up with LEDs. LG STUDIO gas tops add an EasyClean surface.
Radiant tops heat a coil under the glass. Induction tops use a magnetic field to heat the pan. That field is made by a coil below the glass.
The spark is there, yet the flame never comes. We see four causes again and again.
On the UltraHeat burner, the inner and outer rings must both light. If only one ring lights, the head needs a deep clean or the valve needs a test.
Lit knobs tell you a burner is on. If a knob light stays dark, the small switch behind it may be bad. That same switch starts the spark. A wet or worn switch can also make the igniters tick nonstop. We dry, test and replace the switch set as needed.
LG says a radiant element will cycle on and off to hold its heat. So some clicking and glowing in bursts is normal. A zone that never glows is a real fault. The element may be open, or the control behind it has failed. A dual or triple zone can lose just one ring. We test each ring by itself.
An induction zone needs a pan that a magnet grabs. The wrong pan gives no heat at all. With the right pan, a dead zone points to the coil, a sensor under the glass or the power board.
LG induction tops watch their own sensors. When one reads wrong, the display shows a fault and shuts that zone down. LG tells owners to switch the breaker off for 30 seconds, then back on. If the fault returns, a part has failed and needs a tech.
Start with the easy things. Seat the caps. Dry the burner heads. Reset the breaker. Turn off the control lock. Use flat pans that fit the zone.
When that fails, book a visit. A+ charges $79 to diagnose a cooktop at a home. You approve a fixed price before work begins. Labor and parts are both inside that price. With your okay on the repair, we waive the $79. Cooktop calls start at 6 AM and wrap up at 9 PM on all seven days. A visit on the day you book is the usual result. Gas parts are small and low cost. Igniters, switches and valves are worth fixing on any age of cooktop. Radiant elements are the same story. Induction is the one to weigh. A power board on an older unit can cost a fair share of a new top. Cracked glass adds to it. We price each part so you can choose with real numbers.
