Hestan sells three kinds of cooktop, each in 30 and 36 inch widths. There is a gas model, an induction model and an electric radiant model. A smart induction version pairs with Hestan Cue cookware over Bluetooth. Each one fails in its own way, so we start by asking which you own. The gas cooktop has a sealed center power burner rated at 20,000 BTU. It also has a pro-simmer setting for very low heat. Both depend on clean ports and a cap that sits flat. After a boil-over, food hardens in the ports and the flame turns uneven. We clear the ports and check the flame on high and low.
Hestan uses electronic ignition with reignition. If a flame blows out, the spark comes back by itself. That is handy, but it has a downside. When water gets under a knob, the switch can stay closed. Then every burner clicks even with a good flame. We dry and test each switch and replace the one that shorted. A burner that never sparks usually needs a new electrode or spark module.
The knobs are backlit, and a red glow warns that a grate is still hot. If the lights fail but the burners work, the fault is in the light wiring. That repair is small and does not touch the gas side.
An induction zone heats the pan, not the glass. Under each zone sits a copper coil and a power board. When one zone quits and the rest work, that coil or its board has likely failed. When the whole top is dead, we check the house power and the main board first.
Hestan induction models use slide touch controls and a bridge element. The bridge joins two zones for a long pan. If the slider skips or will not respond, the touch board under the glass may be failing. Wet glass can cause the same thing, so wipe it dry and test again.
The electric radiant model uses Trinal triple elements and the Spectrum Power Display. A radiant element that glows on one ring only has a broken inner coil. We match the element by size and wattage and swap it from below.
