Hestan range models and what sets them apart
Hestan makes three kinds of range. All gas models burn gas on top and in the oven. Dual fuel models pair gas burners with an electric oven. Induction ranges use no gas at all. Widths are 30, 36 and 48 inches. Some have a 12 or 24 inch griddle built into the top.
The five burner models carry the CircuFlame center burner. Hestan rates it at 30,000 BTU. The other sealed burners reach up to 23,000 BTU. The simmer setting drops as low as 500 BTU. That wide span puts real demands on the gas valves and igniters. We service each range type named on our Hestan appliance repair page.
Why a Hestan burner keeps clicking
A spark electrode sits next to each Hestan gas burner. Hestan adds reignition, so a flame that blows out lights again. The spark system watches all burners at once. If one spark switch gets wet, the whole top may click. This tends to start right after a boil-over or a deep clean.
Give it a day to dry. If the click goes on, the Hestan needs a new switch or spark module. Do not unplug the range and keep cooking with a lighter. The reignition feature is a safety part, and you want it working.
Weak, yellow or lopsided flames
Hestan burner caps are raised and lift off for cleaning. When one goes back a little off center, gas leaves unevenly. You see a tall flame on one side and almost none on the other. Seat the cap, and the flame should even out.
If it does not, the ports are likely blocked with burned food. On the CircuFlame burner, one ring may light while the next stays dark. We clean the ports and check the gas flow to each ring. Yellow tips on every burner point at the gas supply. The range may be set up for the wrong fuel, or the regulator may be failing.
Griddle, knobs and induction tops
A griddle that heats on one half only has a burner or igniter fault under that half. A griddle that overheats has a bad thermostat. Either way, we pull the plate and test from above.
Hestan knobs are backlit. A dark knob is a small electrical fault, not a gas one. On an induction range, a zone that will not sense a pan may have a failed coil. A zone that cuts out under a heavy load often has a power board fault. Check your pan first. It must be steel or cast iron.
A short list to run through first
- Is the range plugged in? Gas burners still need power for spark.
- Is the gas shutoff behind the range fully open?
- Are the caps flat, dry and on the right burners?
- Did a breaker trip? On dual fuel, the oven and the top share that supply.
Gas smell with no burner lit means stop. Get outside first, then phone the gas utility.
How we price and schedule a range repair
Expect a $79 charge for the diagnostic at a home. When you approve the fix, we waive it. The range quote is one fixed number, labor and parts inside it. It reaches you before the tech takes the top apart. We can often come the same day. Range bookings by phone run 6 AM until 9 PM, the whole week, and the online booking page is always open.
We are independent and family owned. Range techs are licensed and insured and have a clean background check. Igniters, switches and valves for common ranges ride on the truck. Our work is under our 30-day repair warranty.
Repair makes sense on most Hestan ranges
Hestan's home ranges have not been on the market long, so most are still young. A frame and cooktop this heavy will outlive many rounds of small parts. We would fix igniters, switches, valves, thermostats and boards without a second thought. We would pause only if shipping or a fire bent the frame.
Hestan range repair is on offer in Chicagoland, Houston and Los Angeles, plus D.C. and Northern Virginia. Chicago area owners can read our Illinois appliance repair page.
