Sofia and Accento at a glance
The Sofia is Fulgor Milano's pro style range. It came out in 2015 and was built for North America. Widths are 30, 36 and 48 inches. Fulgor builds it three ways: dual fuel, all gas and induction. A 30 inch gas top has four burners. The 36 inch has six, or four and a griddle. The Accento is a 36 inch range in a simpler style.
The gas burners are called Crescendo. Each has an inner and an outer ring of flame. On natural gas, Fulgor rates them at 18,000 or 20,000 BTU. The induction Sofia has a glass top with a large 11 inch zone. Every Sofia oven has dual convection and a self-clean cycle.
Burner lights, then dies
You hold the knob in and the flame is strong. You let go and it goes out. This is the flame safety sensor. It sits in the flame and tells the valve to stay open. A weak or dirty one lets the valve close. We clean the tip and test it. If it cannot hold, we replace it. The job is small, and the burner works like new after.
Burner sparks and will not catch
Look at the igniter tip. Grease or a hairline crack sends the spark the wrong way. On a two ring burner, check how the parts are stacked. If a ring sits crooked, gas leaks out the side and misses the spark. Clicking with all knobs off means a wet spark switch. A pot boiled over at dinner, and the clicking starts that night. Take off the grates and caps and let it dry until morning. If it clicks on after that, a new switch or spark module is due.
The griddle on a 36 inch Sofia has its own burner and its own control. A cold end means blocked burner ports or a bad sensor. A griddle that will not light at all gets the same spark and sensor tests as the open burners.
Oven faults under the cooktop
Dual fuel and induction Sofias have an electric oven. When preheat drags, we check the bake element, the oven sensor and both fan motors. An all gas Sofia lights its oven with a glow igniter. Once weak, it still glows yet the gas valve stays closed. If the whole oven is dead, the high limit switch may have tripped. It is a safety that cuts power when the oven runs too hot.

Induction Sofia problems
An induction top can show a pan warning with a good pan on it. First test the pan with a magnet. Then try the pan on another zone. When a single zone fails with any pan, blame the coil or power board below it. A top that shuts down when several zones run hard may have a cooling fan problem. A cracked glass top must be replaced before use.
Simple things to check
- Restack the burner rings and caps after cleaning.
- Dry the knobs and the area under them.
- Confirm the range has power. Gas models need it for spark.
- Note which burner fails and when.
The visit, the price, the people
Fulgor range calls are seen the day they come in when we can. The office picks up 6 AM to 9 PM, weekdays and weekends alike. At a home the Sofia diagnostic is $79. Approving the repair cancels it. One fixed price for parts and labor comes before any work. Sofia range work is done by licensed and insured range techs, each background checked. Igniters and sensors are often on the truck. A 30-day repair warranty stands behind the range repair. A+ is family owned and independent.
A Sofia is heavy and well made. The body will outlast the small parts. So fixing an igniter, sensor, element or fan is money well spent. The real question is parts. Fulgor is not a common brand here, and some items ship from Italy. On an older range we check supply and tell you the wait up front. If a key board is gone for good, we will say so.
We repair Fulgor ranges around Los Angeles and Pasadena. Sofia owners in Houston and Chicago can book too. So can those in D.C. and Northern Virginia. See every Fulgor Milano product we fix, or our range repair page for other brands. Own a drop-in top with no oven? That is on our Fulgor Milano cooktop repair page. Keep the grates off when you wipe the burners. A bumped igniter is easy to crack.
