Which Fulgor Milano ovens we repair

Fulgor puts ovens in several products. The Sofia and Accento ranges have one below the burners. Dual fuel and induction ranges use an electric oven. All gas ranges use a gas oven. Then there are the built-in ovens. The 700 series comes as a 30 inch single or double with touch controls. Fulgor lists dual true convection, a meat probe, three halogen lights and five broil levels on it. There are also 600, 400 and 100 series built-ins.

Electric oven is slow or bakes unevenly

Slow preheat has three usual causes. The bake element may have burned open. The oven sensor may read wrong. Or a convection fan has stopped. With dual convection, one fan can quit while the other runs. Food browns on one side of the pan. We test both motors and both heaters.

An oven that is dead with the clock still on may have tripped its high limit switch. That switch cuts power if the oven gets too hot. It is a safety part. We find out why it tripped before we reset or replace it. A failed cooling fan is a common reason.

Gas oven will not light

On an all gas range, the oven burner is lit by a glow igniter. The gas valve opens only when that igniter draws enough current. A worn one keeps glowing while the valve never opens. You might catch a brief gas smell with no flame. We measure the current and change the igniter if it is low. This is the most common gas oven repair on any brand.

Self-clean trouble

Fulgor ovens clean with very high heat. Fulgor calls it pyrolytic cleaning. The door locks for the whole cycle. Two faults follow a cleaning run more than any other. The door stays locked after it cools, which points at the lock motor or its switch. Or the oven will not heat the next day, because the high heat blew a thermal fuse. Both are fixable. If your oven is older, run the clean cycle well before a holiday, not the night before.

Steam oven and speed oven faults

A Fulgor steam oven boils water drawn from a tank. Hard water leaves scale behind, like the white crust inside an old kettle. Scale blocks the water path and coats the sensors. The oven may stop making steam or ask for water when the tank is full. When the Fulgor asks for a descale, run it. Should steam still fail, we check the pump, the steam maker and the water sensor.

Checks that may save a visit

• Switch the oven breaker off, wait a minute and turn it on.
• Make sure the control lock is off.
• Seat the meat probe fully or take it out.
• Refill and reseat the steam oven water tank.

Is a Fulgor oven worth fixing? On a newer one, yes. Igniters, elements, fans and sensors are routine. The catch is part supply on older models. Fulgor is less common in the US, and some parts ship from Italy. We check stock and lead time before we quote. If a main board is no longer made, we will tell you plainly.
