Which Frigidaire range you have
The fuel type decides the parts. Frigidaire builds gas, electric, induction and dual fuel ranges. Most are 30 inches wide. A freestanding range has its controls on a back panel. A front control range has them on the front, so it can slide in between counters. Gallery models add oven modes like No Preheat and Air Fry. Professional models have a heavier look and heavier grates.
This page is mostly about the cooktop half and the controls. For baking faults, see Frigidaire oven repair.
Gas burners: clicking, weak flame, no flame
Beside every Frigidaire gas burner sits a spark electrode. When you turn the knob, a switch tells the spark module to fire. Food spills are the enemy. A wet or greasy electrode gives a thin spark. A burner cap that sits crooked sends gas the wrong way. Dry the parts, set the cap flat and try again.
If one burner never sparks, its electrode or wire is bad. If none spark, the module or the power to the range is out. If the sparking will not stop, a switch under a knob is shorted. A flame that burns yellow and leaves soot needs its air setting fixed.
Electric coil and glass top burners
On a coil top, a dead burner is often the coil or the socket it plugs into. Swap the coil with one of the same size to find out. On a glass top, the element is under the glass and has a limit switch built in.
A burner that is stuck on full heat at every knob setting has a worn infinite switch. That is the switch behind the knob that cycles the power. It is a common fault and a quick change. A hot surface light that stays on after the top is cold points to the same switch or to the element's limiter.
Induction range faults
- A zone flashes and will not heat. The pan is not magnetic or is too small for the ring.
- A zone is dead with a good pan. The coil or its power board has failed.
- The top shuts off during a long cook. The cooling fan is blocked or has stopped.
- A buzz at high power. That is normal with some pans and is not a fault.
Frigidaire's advice is a magnet test. A pan whose base holds the magnet will heat on induction.
Keypad and display codes
Frigidaire lists F1 as a shorted keypad. The touch panel is sending a signal when no one is pressing it. F10 is an overheat stop in the oven. For any F code, cut the power for 30 seconds and see if it clears. If it comes back, write it down and call. Beeping with no code, or buttons that work only some days, also point to the keypad or the control board behind it.
What to do about a gas smell
A faint whiff when a burner lights is normal. A smell with all knobs off is not. Do not use the range or any switch. Open a window, go outside and call your gas utility. Once they have made it safe, we can find the leaking valve or fitting and fix it.
What a Frigidaire range call costs and when to replace
The diagnostic for a range in a home is $79. Choose to repair the Frigidaire and that fee is waived. A set price, parts and labor both, is in your hand before we start. Frigidaire parts are common and low in cost. Igniters, infinite switches and elements are usually with the tech. That means one visit for most jobs.
Most range calls are booked same-day. The schedule runs 6 AM through 9 PM with no days off. A+ is a family owned, independent company. Techs are background checked and hold a license and insurance. A 30-day repair warranty backs the range repair. Online booking is on every page.
A switch, igniter, element or spark module on a Frigidaire is almost always worth fixing. A cracked glass top is the big one. The glass can cost a large share of what a new standard range does. On a Gallery or Professional induction model, it is more often worth it. We quote the glass and let you compare.
We fix ranges in D.C., from Capitol Hill to Chevy Chase, and in four other markets. See D.C. appliance repair, Frigidaire brand repair, Frigidaire dishwasher repair and general range repair. After a boil-over on a gas model, lift off the knobs and let the switches dry before you cook again.
