What the code on your Frigidaire means
Frigidaire publishes dishwasher codes in its online owner center. Four of them cause most of our calls.
- i20 means the unit did not drain. Frigidaire says to check the disposer plug, the drain hose and the glass trap and filter.
- i40 means a clogged filter or sump. Food has built up in the bottom.
- PF means the power went out during a cycle.
- Hd or HO is a heat delay. The unit is waiting for the water to get hot enough.
A code tells you the area, not the part. An i20 can be a kinked hose you fix in a minute. It can also be a drain pump that has burned out. That is where testing comes in.
Frigidaire dishwasher lines and features
Frigidaire sells 24 inch built-in dishwashers under three names: Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery and Frigidaire Professional. Many have a stainless steel tub. Frigidaire says its OrbitClean wash arm gives four times more water coverage. Some Gallery models have a Dual OrbitClean system. EvenDry and MaxBoost Dry are the drying systems. CleanBoost adds wash power on newer models. DishSense changes the cycle length based on how dirty the load is.
When i20 will not clear
Start under the sink. If the disposer is new, the knockout plug in its side port may still be in place. Water cannot pass it. Next, follow the drain hose and look for a kink or a sag full of sludge. Then pull the glass trap and filter from the tub floor and rinse them.
If the code comes back, the drain pump is the likely part. A shard of glass can lock the impeller. The motor can also fail with age. Less often, a check valve sticks and lets dirty water flow back in. We replace the pump or valve and run a full drain test.
Dishes that stay dirty
Look at the OrbitClean arm. It must turn freely. Seeds and labels clog its holes. If the arms are clear and the dishes are still gritty, the wash pump motor is weak or the filter is letting soil pass. Cloudy glasses come from hard water or heavy soap use. No Frigidaire part is broken.
DishSense relies on a sensor that reads how dirty the water is. When the sensor is coated, cycles run far too long or end too soon. Cleaning or replacing it brings the timing back.
Wet dishes, leaks and a dead panel
For drying faults we test the heating element and the vent or fan. Plastic items hold water on any dishwasher, so judge by the plates. For leaks, the door gasket and the lower door seal are first. A split in the spray arm can also shoot water at the door seam. Water under the unit often traces to the inlet valve or a pump seal.
A panel with no lights may be a tripped breaker, a blown thermal fuse or a failed control board. If some buttons work and some do not, the touch pad is worn.
Cost of the visit and how we quote
We charge a $79 diagnostic for a dishwasher in a home. It comes off your bill when you approve the fix. Our quote is one firm number for labor plus parts, so the total does not creep. Frigidaire parts are easy to get, and the tech often has the Frigidaire pump or valve in the van. Many jobs are done in one trip.
We schedule seven days a week between 6 AM and 9 PM, often for the same day. A+ is independent, and one family has kept it going. Whoever works on your Frigidaire holds a license and insurance and was screened with a background check. Dishwasher repairs are under our 30-day repair warranty, and online booking is open.
Repair or replace a Frigidaire dishwasher
Frigidaire is a value brand. A pump, valve, gasket or heating element costs little next to a new unit and is worth doing. We are more careful with a rusted rack set plus a failed board on a ten-year-old standard model. Added up, those two can rival what a new Frigidaire sells for. A Gallery or Professional model with a stainless tub earns a bit more repair money.
