Electrolux ovens we repair

Electrolux sells 30 inch electric ovens that build into the cabinet. They come as a single, a double or a combo with a microwave on top. There are 27 inch models in many homes as well. The newer ones list Air Sous Vide, steam modes and a built-in Air Fry setting. All three depend on what the brand calls Advanced Convection.

Oven does not reach temperature

You set 400 degrees. An hour later the roast is still pale. In an electric oven, the first thing we look at is the bake element. It sits at the bottom, often under the floor panel. A burned element can have a bubble or a gap in it. Some fail with no mark at all, so we test with a meter.

The second suspect is the temperature sensor. It is a thin metal probe at the back of the oven. It tells the control how hot the air is. If it reads high, the oven shuts the heat off early. We measure its resistance and compare it to the spec.

If both are good, we check the relay on the control board. The relay is the switch that sends power to the element.

Gas ovens in a range fail another way. A gas oven uses a glow bar igniter. Until that bar is very hot, the gas valve stays closed. A weak one glows orange but the burner never lights. You may wait ten minutes and get no heat. A new igniter fixes most of these.

Uneven baking on convection

Convection ovens have a fan in the back wall. On Electrolux, a third element wraps around that fan. The fan pushes heated air over every rack.

When the fan motor quits, the back element makes a hot spot. Cookies brown at the rear and stay pale up front. When the element quits, the fan just stirs cooler air. Preheat drags. Air Fry and Air Sous Vide suffer the most, since they run the fan the whole time. We test the motor and the element as a pair.

Steam modes that do nothing

Steam settings need water. Depending on the model, that is a tray or a small tank you fill. An empty or poorly seated tray gives you a dry bake. Mineral scale can also block the path. Clean it as the manual says. If steam still fails, we inspect the parts that feed and heat the water.

Door locked after self-clean

Self-clean heats the oven far past cooking heat. The door locks for safety. Once things cool, the latch lets go. That can take an hour or more.

If it stays locked the next day, the motor that drives the lock, or its switch, is bad. The extreme heat can also blow a thermal fuse. Then the oven is dead and locked at once. Do not pry the door. We can release the latch without harm and replace the failed part.

Owner checks worth five minutes

• Look at the breaker. A half-tripped one can leave the clock on and the heat off.
• Cancel any delay start or Sabbath setting.
• Hang an oven thermometer on the center rack and compare.
• Do not line the oven floor with foil.
• Check that the door gasket sits in its channel all the way around.

A tech comes to your home and tests the oven for a $79 diagnostic fee. Choose to repair and we waive it. You are given a firm price, labor and parts both. We wait for your go-ahead.
