Know which Electrolux range you have
The fuel type decides what can go wrong. Electrolux sells four kinds.
- Induction. Glass top with magnetic coils and an electric oven below.
- Gas. Flame on the cooktop and flame in the oven.
- Dual fuel. A gas top over an oven that heats with electricity.
- Electric. Radiant elements under glass and an electric oven.
Most are front-control models. The knobs or touch panel sit at the front, with no tall back panel. They come 30 or 36 inches wide. When you call, tell us the fuel type and the model number. Look for a tag on the frame behind the oven door, or in the drawer.
Top burner problems on gas and dual fuel
Clicking with no flame is the usual call. Food and cleaner soak the igniter. The spark turns weak or jumps to the wrong spot. We clean the burner head and the igniter. Then we watch the spark in a dim room. A cracked igniter is swapped out.
If all burners click each time you light one, that is how it should be. One spark module feeds them all. If they click with every knob off, a switch is wet or shorted. Unplug the range and let it dry overnight. Still clicking means a service call.
Induction top faults
An induction zone that flashes and will not heat wants a different pan. Check with a magnet. A zone that heats, stops and heats again may be running hot underneath. The cooling fan pulls air through slots at the front. Keep them clear.
A zone that is fully dead with a good pan has a failed coil or power board. We open the top and test each part in that circuit. Boards are matched to the model, so we order by serial tag.
Oven faults by fuel type
On a gas range, blame a cold oven on the igniter first. It glows yet the valve stays shut. On dual fuel, induction and electric ranges, the oven is electric. We test the bake element, the broil element and the temperature sensor.
Electrolux uses what it calls True Convection on many ranges. The back wall gets one more element plus a fan. If baking turns uneven only on convection, that fan or element is the cause. Problems with a built-in oven are covered in more depth on the Electrolux oven repair page.
Touch panel and display trouble
A front-control range puts its electronics close to the heat and steam. Panels can stop taking touches or show a blank screen. Try a reset first. Turn the breaker off for five minutes.
If the fault comes back, we check the ribbon cable, the touch panel and the main board. An error code on the screen helps. Write it down before you reset. We look each code up by model and do not guess.
Run through this short list before you book.
- Smell gas with the knobs off? Leave and call the gas company.
- Make sure the range is plugged in fully. Dual fuel needs a 240 volt outlet.
- Seat each burner cap flat.
- Check for a tripped breaker.
- Make sure the anti-tip bracket is in place if the range was moved.
What to expect from us
Your visit begins with testing, not guessing. The tech runs each burner and the oven. You see the failed part. Then comes a set price for parts and labor, given before work starts.
Range diagnosis at a house is priced at $79. It is taken off once you say yes to the repair. We are independent and family owned. A+ is family owned. Our people hold licenses and insurance. We run a background check on each. The truck holds igniters, elements and sensors. We pick up the phone at 6 AM and keep going until 9 PM daily. Same-day repair is common. Booking online is quick.
When an Electrolux range is worth the repair
Igniters, elements, sensors and switches are small jobs. They make sense on a range of any age. A single induction board or a main control lands in the middle on cost. It is still far below the cost of a new front-control range. Our repairs come with a 30-day repair warranty.
Cracked glass and a bad board at once on an older range is the close call. We price it out and you choose. Electrolux says its front-control models fit a standard 30 or 36 inch cutout. That helps if you do replace.
