The Dacor refrigerators in homes today
Dacor sells two main kinds of fridge. The first is the built-in French door model, 36 or 48 inches wide. It takes cabinet panels or stainless ones. The bottom freezer doors stand at counter height and match the cabinets. Some have a stainless lined interior that Dacor calls SteelCool. A FreshZone+ drawer can switch from fridge to freezer temps when you need more room.
The second kind is the column refrigerator. It is all fridge, with a freezer column sold apart. Columns have a push-to-open door assist and a touch panel hidden at waist height. Two cameras inside let you see the shelves from your phone. Dacor's counter-depth French door fridge, 36 inches wide, adds a glass Reveal door.
Fridge section warm while the freezer is fine
On a French door Dacor, this is the fault we hear about most. Cold air has to move to reach your food. A fan behind the back panel pushes it. If that fan stops, the coil still gets cold but the shelves do not. If the coil is buried in frost, air cannot pass through it. A failed defrost heater or sensor is what lets the frost build.
We also check the thermistors, the small sensors that report the temperature. One bad reading can tell the control to stop cooling too soon. On a column, there is no freezer to borrow cold from. So a warm column points to its own fan, its own sensor or its own compressor drive.
Ice and water problems
Dacor French door models make standard cubes and larger cocktail ice. The 48 inch has two ice makers. More ice makers mean more fill tubes, valves and molds that can fail. The usual causes are these.
- A fill tube that has frozen shut.
- A water inlet valve that hums but does not open.
- A filter that is past due and choking the flow.
- An ice maker that does not cycle, which needs replacing.
- A pitcher or dispenser that will not refill because its sensor is dirty.
A puddle by a Dacor fridge most often starts at a loose line on the valve or a blocked defrost drain. We trace the leak before we replace anything.
Noise, heat and long run times
A built-in fridge breathes through a grille, since it has no open back. Dust on the condenser coil makes it run hot and long. The sides of the cabinet may feel warm. A rattling or grinding sound is often a condenser fan with a worn bearing. Repeated clicking from a Dacor that is not cooling points to the inverter board or the compressor.
Doors and gaskets
Panel-ready doors are heavy. Over the years the hinges settle and the door no longer meets the gasket at the top corner. Warm air gets in and you see water drops on the ceiling of the fridge. We adjust the hinges and replace torn gaskets. If the push-to-open assist stops working, its motor or sensor has likely failed.
Fees and scheduling for Dacor fridge calls
A home visit to diagnose the fridge costs $79. Once you approve our repair quote, that charge goes away. The quote is one fixed number with labor and parts in it. Warm food cannot wait, so a Dacor fridge call is pushed into a same-day slot if one exists. Fridge visits start at 6 AM and the last finishes by 9 PM, daily. Online booking never closes.
A+ is independent and has been a family company. We send licensed techs who are insured and background checked. They stock fan motors, sensors and valves. Sealed system work may take a second trip. A 30-day repair warranty covers the repair.
Deciding between repair and a new built-in
A new built-in fridge of this class is a major purchase, and the cabinet opening was made for this one. Fans, sensors, heaters, valves, gaskets and boards are all worth fixing. A compressor on a Dacor past fifteen years is the one job we price out slowly with you. For older Dacor models, we confirm the part exists before you commit.
