A wine unit does not need to be very cold. It needs to be steady. It holds a mild temperature, keeps the air damp and stays still. So the parts that matter most are sensors, fans and door seals. A kitchen fridge can swing a few degrees and no one notices. In a wine unit, that same swing is the fault you called about.
The wine column is 24 inches wide and panel ready. It stores up to 100 bottles in three zones that cool on their own. The door has three layers of glass with argon gas between them to block UV light. Four humidity sensors hold the air between 50 and 80 percent. Oak racks slide on ball-bearing rails.
The undercounter wine cellar is also 24 inches wide. It holds up to 41 bottles in two zones and fits under a counter. Dacor also makes a built-in wine dispenser. It keeps four open bottles at two temperatures and pours by the glass.
Each zone has a sensor and a fan. When a zone reads right on the panel but feels warm, the sensor is off. When it reads warm and stays warm, the fan or the cooling for that zone has failed. We compare the panel to our own probe in a glass of water on the rack.
If every zone is warm, the fault is shared. We look at the condenser coil and fan at the base, then at the compressor and its control board. An undercounter unit pulls air through the toe grille. A rug or a toe-kick board across that grille will make it run hot.
Dacor builds these units to cut vibration, since shaking stirs up the wine. If you can now hear or feel a buzz, something has worked loose. It may be a fan blade hitting ice or a wire. It may be a compressor mount that has hardened. A rack rail with a failed bearing will grind when you pull it. We fix the cause so the bottles can rest.
Before we come, check that the door closes all the way and that no bottle neck is holding it open. Look at each zone setting, since a child or a guest may have changed one. Clean the grille at the bottom with a vacuum. Give the unit a full day to settle after loading many warm bottles. If the app shows an alert, note what it says for the tech.
