Hoods are what ZLINE is best known for. The line has wall mount hoods, island hoods, under cabinet hoods and inserts that hide inside custom woodwork. There are stainless, black stainless, copper and wooden styles. The Designer Series and Autograph Edition change the look, not the mechanics.
Inside each hood is a blower motor, a control, LED lights and a set of filters. ZLINE uses stainless baffle filters that can go in the dishwasher. Most models have four fan speeds. Many are convertible. They can vent outdoors through a duct or recirculate through charcoal filters. We list other ZLINE products on our ZLINE repair page.
If the lights work but the fan is silent, power is reaching the hood. The fault is the motor, its capacitor or the control board. A ZLINE motor that hums yet stays still often has a bad capacitor. That is a small part. A motor that is hot to the touch and dead has likely burned out.
A fan that runs for ten minutes and stops is overheating. Grease in the filters or a crushed duct makes the motor work too hard. It shuts off to protect itself and restarts when cool. We fix the cause, not just the motor.
Noise is the top hood complaint. A loose blower wheel makes a rattle that changes with speed. Worn motor bearings make a steady growl. A flapping sound at start and stop is the damper in the duct. It may be stuck or missing its spring.
Weak pull with normal noise is nearly always an airflow block. Filters are the first stop. After that we check the duct run and the wall or roof cap. On a recirculating setup, old charcoal filters choke the air. They cannot be washed and must be replaced.
ZLINE hood lights are LED. When one goes out, the lamp itself has usually failed. When all go out at once, look at the LED driver or the control. Lights that flicker at low fan speed hint at a weak board.
The control panel sits in the path of steam and grease. Buttons can stick or stop working. If the fan only runs on one speed, the control is not switching. A hood that turns off by itself after a few minutes may just be on its shutoff timer. Check the timer button before you worry.
A hood visit starts with a home diagnostic priced at $79. Approve the hood repair and that hood fee is waived. A fixed hood price comes up front, labor and parts inside. Calls made early in the day often get a same-day visit. Hood calls get a live answer from 6 AM through 9 PM, weekends as well, and hood bookings can be made on the website.
