A freezer runs far colder than a fridge, so its coil ices over every day. A defrost system melts that ice on a timer. When it fails, frost packs the coil solid. Air stops moving. The top shelf gets soft while the coil sits buried in snow.
Three parts run defrost. The heater melts the ice. A sensor on the coil tells the control when to stop. The control board starts the cycle. We test all three, since any one can cause the same wall of frost. We also clear the drain under the coil. If that drain freezes shut, melt water spills inside and turns into a sheet of ice on the floor.

Viking fits the Veil freezer with a dual size ice maker. You pick medium or large cubes. A Max Ice mode makes more for a party. A water filter is built in.
No ice at all usually comes down to water. The fill tube freezes, the inlet valve sticks, or the filter is clogged. Cubes that come out small or hollow are starved for water. Change the filter first. If the ice maker fills but never dumps, the motor or the mold heater inside it has failed. We swap the ice maker as one part in that case.
Ice that tastes stale is not a fault. Old cubes pick up odors. Dump the bin and let it make a fresh batch.
If there is no frost and the freezer is still warm, we look at the cooling side. The evaporator fan may have stopped. The condenser may be choked with dust. The start relay or the compressor itself may be failing. A compressor that runs all day and never gets cold can mean a sealed system leak. We check pressures and tell you plainly what we find.
Check the modes too. Viking gives the Veil freezer a Vacation mode and a Sabbath mode. Both change how the unit runs. A Bottle Chiller timer can also set off an alert. Make sure none of these were left on.
An integrated freezer carries a heavy wood panel on its door. Viking uses a hinge that adjusts in three directions to line it up. If the panel sags, the gasket gaps at one corner. Warm air leaks in and frost forms around the door edge. We adjust the hinge first. A new gasket comes second, only if the old one is torn or flat.
Testing a freezer at a home costs $79 with A+. Approve the freezer repair and we strike the $79. The quote is fixed and arrives first, and it bundles labor with parts. Food is thawing, so freezer calls jump the line and most get a visit that same day. We are open seven days, 6 AM until 9 PM.
