What a U-Line fridge is built to do
A U-Line fridge is a small, built-in machine. It slides under a counter and sits flush with the cabinets. Widths run from 15 to 36 inches. Some have a solid door, some have glass, and some have two pull-out drawers.
U-Line groups them into lines. You may own a 5 Class, a 3000 Series, or one from the newer Home line. There are outdoor models for patios and a shorter model made for ADA height counters. All share the same basic layout, so the repairs are close from one line to the next. See our U-Line service page for the other products we cover.
Warm drinks: the usual causes
Start with air. These units take in room air at the bottom front and blow it back out the same way. When lint coats the condenser behind that grille, heat has nowhere to go. The cabinet creeps up a few degrees each week until the milk turns.
If the coil is clean, we look at four parts.
- The condenser fan, which cools the compressor. If it stops, the compressor overheats and cuts out.
- The inside fan, which spreads cold air. U-Line calls this convection cooling. A dead fan leaves the top shelf warm.
- The thermistor. This small sensor tells the board how cold the cabinet is. A bad reading means bad cooling.
- The control board that drives the variable-speed compressor. If the board fails, the compressor may not start at all.
Frozen cans and other odd faults
A fridge that freezes soda has the opposite problem. The sensor reads warm when the cabinet is cold, so the board never tells the compressor to rest. Sometimes the set point was simply changed. The touch pad on these units goes from 34 up to 70 degrees, and a child can move it fast.
A puddle in front of a U-Line fridge usually traces to a blocked defrost drain. U-Line melt water should run down to a pan by the compressor and dry up there. When the drain tube clogs, it spills inside and runs out the door.
A display that is dark, or one that blinks and will not take a command, points to the touch pad or the ribbon cable behind it. We do not list error codes here, because they differ by line and year. Tell us what the screen shows and we will look it up for your model.
Drawers and doors
Drawer fridges have slides and long gaskets. Kids lean on open drawers, and the slides bend. A drawer that will not close flat lets in damp air. You will see sweat on the front and frost on the back. We replace slides and gaskets and square the drawer face.
Glass door models can fog between the panes when the seal in the glass fails. That needs a new door glass, not a cooling repair.
Cost, timing and who shows up
A+ is family owned. One family owns it, the shop is independent, and we fix home and business appliances. The first U-Line slot is 6 AM and the last U-Line slot ends at 9 PM, weekends too. Online booking takes about a minute. Most callers see a tech the same day.
Diagnosing a U-Line fridge at a house costs $79. That $79 drops to nothing once you approve our U-Line quote. Before any part comes out, you get one fixed number for parts and labor. Our techs hold licenses and insurance, and each has cleared a background check. They stock fans and sensors on the truck. The repair is under our 30-day repair warranty.
Is a U-Line repair worth it
Usually it is. A U-Line fan, sensor, gasket or board costs far less than a whole new undercounter fridge. The new fridge would also have to fit the same opening and take the same door panel.
We lean the other way when the sealed system leaks on an older unit. Finding and fixing a leak takes hours, and the fix may not last on thin old tubing. You will hear both prices from us.

We work on U-Line fridges across Los Angeles and Pasadena. U-Line owners near Chicago, Houston, D.C. and in Northern Virginia can book the same service. One last tip for outdoor models. Hose dust off the grille each month in summer, and keep planters at least a foot away from it.
