Front load and top load Samsung washers
Samsung sells front load washers, top load washers and all-in-one combo units. Top load models come with an agitator or with a flat impeller. Front load models seal the door with a rubber boot. Many have VRT Plus, which cuts shake and noise in the spin. The two styles share codes but break in different spots. Front loaders have boot and door lock trouble. Top loaders have lid and balance trouble.
A washer that will not fill
The 4C code means water is not coming in right. Check that both taps are open. Look for a kink in the fill hoses. Each hose has a small mesh screen where it meets the washer. Grit clogs those screens. Unscrew the hose and rinse the screen. If the code shows as 4C2, the hot and cold hoses are swapped. When the supply is fine and the washer still will not fill, the inlet valve has failed. That is a quick part to change.
A washer that will not drain
The 5C code means water is stuck in the drum. On a front loader, open the small door at the bottom front. Drain the little hose into a pan, then twist out the debris filter. You may find coins, hair ties or a sock. Check that the drain hose is not bent behind the machine. If the filter is clean and the pump only hums, the drain pump is done. If the pump is silent, we test the pump and the board that powers it.
Spin, balance and noise
A Ub or UE code means the load is off balance. Move the clothes around and start again. One heavy item, like a rug, will do it every time. If the washer shakes hard with a normal load, the fault is in the machine. Front loaders ride on shock absorbers. Top loaders hang on four rods. Both wear out. A roar like a jet in the spin means the drum bearing is going. That repair is large, and we price it with care before you decide.
Leaks and the door boot
On front loaders, look at the rubber boot around the door. A tear or a fold full of grime will drip down the front. Mold in that fold is where the bad smell comes from. Wipe it dry after the last load and leave the door open a bit. An LC code means the washer sensed a leak or too much water. Too many suds can set it off. A SUd code says the same thing in plain terms. Use less soap, and only HE soap.
The door or lid will not lock
A dC code on most models means the door is not seen as shut and locked. Look for fabric pinched in the catch. When nothing is in the way, the lock unit has failed. It holds a small switch and a catch that wear out. On top loaders, the lid lock does the same job.
