Why a Samsung dryer stops heating
Heat faults are the top reason people call us about a Samsung dryer. On an electric model, the thermal fuse is the first part we test. It is a small safety part that blows when the dryer runs too hot. Once it blows, the drum still turns but the air stays cold. The heating element can also burn through. On a gas model, the igniter glows to light the burner. When it gets weak, the gas never lights. The coils on the gas valve can fail too. Then the flame starts and dies a minute later.
Vent codes and what they mean
A blown fuse is a symptom. The cause is often a vent packed with lint. Samsung builds in checks for this. An HC code means the dryer is running too hot. A tC or tS code means the heat sensor reads wrong, and trapped heat is a common reason. Some models run a vent test and show Clg when the duct is blocked. Samsung tells owners to clean the lint screen and the vent for all of these. We agree. If we swap a fuse and leave the clogged vent, the new fuse will blow too. So we check the airflow at the wall before we close the job.
Drums that will not turn and doors that will not latch
A dryer that hums but does not spin usually has a broken belt. You can test it. Turn the drum by hand. If it spins with no drag at all, the belt snapped. Squeals and thumps come from worn rollers or the idler pulley. A dC code means the dryer thinks the door is open. Check for a sock caught in the latch. If the door is clear, the door switch has likely failed. A Samsung dryer with no lights at all may have a voltage fault. Samsung shows 9C1 for that. Check the breaker. An electric dryer uses two breaker legs, and one can trip alone.
The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is a different machine
Samsung's all-in-one combo washes and dries in one drum. The ventless version dries with a heat pump, not a heating element. It has no thermal fuse to blow. Slow drying on a combo usually comes down to lint. The lint filter and the heat exchanger need regular cleaning. We also check the drain, since the water pulled from clothes has to go somewhere.
What to do before you book
- Clean the lint screen and wash it with soap if it looks waxy.
- Pull the dryer out and look for a crushed vent hose.
- Go outside and check that the vent flap opens when the dryer runs.
- Try a timed cycle. If timed dry heats but Sensor Dry ends early, the moisture bars may be coated.

When a Samsung dryer is not worth the repair
Most dryer parts are cheap next to a new machine. A belt, fuse, element or roller kit is almost always worth it. We slow down when the main board has failed on an old dryer that also needs a motor. Two big parts at once can pass half the price of a new unit. For a heat pump combo, a sealed system fault is the costly one. We will say so plainly. Houston owners can find local details on our Texas page. Samsung dryer service is open in Chicago and Los Angeles too. Dryer calls from Northern Virginia and D.C. are welcome. See Samsung washer repair if the matching washer acts up, our Samsung brand page, or general dryer repair. One last thing on Samsung dryers. If the vent run is long or has many bends, tell the tech. A short, straight duct fixes more repeat heat faults than any part does.
