What the codes on a Samsung dishwasher tell you
Samsung dishwashers flash a short code when a cycle stops. Three of them cover most of our calls.
- 5C means the water is slow to drain or will not drain.
- 4C means the water supply is weak or shut off.
- LC means the leak sensor in the base found moisture.
Older models show the same faults as 5E, 4E and LE. A code is a starting point. It tells us where to look, and then we test the parts.
Drain trouble and the 5C code
Start at the round filter under the lower rack of your Samsung. Unscrew it and wash it in the sink. Bits of food and glass pack into it over time. Next, look under the sink. A kinked drain hose will hold water in the tub. If a new garbage disposal was just put in, its drain cap may still be in place. That plug has to be knocked out. If those checks pass, we move to the Samsung drain pump. A cherry pit or a glass chip can jam its small blades. A pump that hums but moves no water is worn out. We swap it and run a test cycle.
Leaks and the LC code
The LC code shuts the wash down to protect your floor. The sensor sits in a pan under the tub. Even a small drip can trip it. Too much soap is a common cause. Suds push past the door seal and run down inside. Hand dish soap is even worse. Other causes are a ripped Samsung door seal, a hose clamp that slipped or a split sump. We pull the unit out, dry the pan and find the wet trail. Then we fix the source, not just the code.
Dishes that come out dirty or wet
Samsung uses a few wash systems. Rotary models spin spray arms. Linear Wash models slide a spray bar along the tub floor. StormWash models add a strong jet for pots. Poor cleaning often starts with clogged spray holes or that same dirty filter. Low water from a weak inlet valve will do it as well. For wet dishes, check the AutoRelease door. It should pop open at the end to let steam out. If it stays shut, the latch motor may have failed. Rinse aid helps a lot with drying.
How we handle a Samsung dishwasher call
Call early and you will likely see a tech that same day. Our first Samsung dishwasher slot is 6 AM and the last one is 9 PM, weekends included. The tech reads the code, runs a test and checks the parts behind it. A home dishwasher diagnostic runs $79. That charge drops to zero once you approve the dishwasher repair. The quote is a fixed price. It covers the part and the labor, and you hear it before work begins. Common pumps and valves ride on the truck. A+ is an independent shop. Each Samsung dishwasher tech is licensed, is insured and has passed our background check. We back the repair with a 30-day repair warranty.
Is an older Samsung dishwasher worth fixing
In most cases, yes. A drain pump, inlet valve, door latch or gasket is a modest repair. It costs far less than a new machine and a new install. The math shifts with a failed main board on an old unit. It shifts as well when the tub or sump has cracked. We will give you the repair price next to a fair guess at a new unit. Then you choose.
Where we repair Samsung dishwashers
Our routes run through Los Angeles and Pasadena, listed on the California service page. Samsung dishwasher work is also booked in Chicago and Houston. Dishwasher owners in Northern Virginia and the District can call as well. For other machines, see Samsung washer repair or the full Samsung appliance repair page. Our general dishwasher repair page covers other brands. Before the tech comes, leave the standing water in the tub. It shows us how high it sits, and that points at the pump or the hose.
