Maytag sells gas and electric ranges. Most are 30 inches wide. There are freestanding and slide-in styles.
Gas models have Power burners rated from 15,000 to 18,000 BTU. Some have a fifth oval burner in the center. Electric models have Power elements under a glass top. Many ranges come with Air Fry and a basket. Some use True Convection with a third element. Maytag's Precision Cooking system uses a sensor to watch the oven heat.
The Power burner is the one most people use. It sees the most spills. When it clicks and will not light, we look at these.
If every burner clicks with all knobs off, a spark switch is wet or shorted. It often dries out in a day. If not, we replace the switch harness.
A glass top element that will not heat is either the element or its switch. We test both. The switch is behind the knob and takes heat from the oven vent. It can burn at its contacts.
If an element stays on high at every setting, the switch is stuck. Turn it off at the breaker until it is fixed. A hot surface light that never goes out points to the limiter on one of the elements.
Slow preheat on a gas Maytag traces to the igniter nearly every time. It glows, and still the valve will not open. On an electric range, the bake element may have split. You may have seen a spark or a bright spot before it quit.
