KitchenAid wall ovens come as single, double and combination units. A combination unit pairs a microwave on top with an oven below.
Most use Even-Heat True Convection. That system has a bow-tie shaped baffle and a fan at the back. The goal is the same heat on every rack.
The Smart Oven+ line adds a powered hub in the rear wall. A grill, a baking stone or a steamer plugs into it. The attachment has its own heating element and base pan. That hub is one more part we test when an attachment stays cold.
Electric ovens use a bake element, a broil element and often a convection element. Any of them can burn out. A bake element may show a blister or a break. Others hide under the floor and need a meter test.
If the elements are good, we look at the temperature sensor. That part is a slim metal probe near the back. When it reads wrong, it makes the oven run cold or shut off. After that we test the relay board that sends power to each element.
In a gas oven, the igniter does two jobs. It glows hot and it lets the gas valve open. A weak igniter still glows but the valve stays shut. You wait, and the oven takes far too long. A new igniter solves most slow gas ovens. We also check the flame pattern across the burner tube.
Cakes that brown on one side point to air flow. The convection fan may have stopped or slowed. A fan motor with dry bearings squeals before it fails. A torn door gasket leaks heat at the front and does the same harm.
We bake test with our own meter in the center of the cavity.
Self clean runs very hot. Some ovens fail right after it. A thermal fuse may blow, or the door lock motor may stick. The door then stays shut with dinner inside. We can free the lock and replace the failed part. Some KitchenAid ovens use AquaLift instead, which cleans with water and low heat.

The oven is tested by a tech with a license, insurance and a cleared background screen. The diagnostic is $79 for a residence. Next comes a fixed quote with labor and parts.
