JennAir ovens we repair
JennAir ovens come in a few forms. There are 30 inch wall ovens, sold as singles and doubles. There is a combination unit with a microwave over an oven. Then there are the ovens built into JennAir ranges, both gas and dual fuel. One 48 inch NOIR range even has steam assist in the oven. All share the two JennAir looks. RISE has a thick textured handle. NOIR is darker and flatter. Older ovens carry the Jenn-Air name with a hyphen, and we work on those too. More on the brand is on our JennAir appliance repair page.
What two convection fans mean for repairs
Most ovens have one convection fan. Newer JennAir wall ovens have two, set one above the other on the back wall. JennAir calls it V2. The fans speed up, slow down and swap direction to suit each mode. That takes two motors and a board that runs them. If one fan stops, the oven still heats. But cookies on one rack brown and the next rack stays pale. We run each fan alone in test mode to find the weak one. A scraping sound at startup means a fan blade is rubbing its cover.
An oven that will not reach or hold heat
We test the cheap parts first. The temp sensor is a slim metal probe on the rear wall. When it drifts, the oven thinks it is hotter or cooler than it is. The bake element can burn open, often with a visible blister. The broil element helps with preheat, so a bad one makes preheat drag. Only after those pass do we look at relays and the control board. On a gas range oven, the glow igniter is the first suspect. It weakens with age and stops opening the gas valve.
Screen and control faults on JennAir ovens
- Touch screen is black but the oven light works. The display or its power supply has failed.
- Screen lit but will not take a touch. The touch layer is bad, or the panel is locked.
- Recipes and guided modes will not load. The control needs a reset or a board.
- Oven shuts off mid-bake with an error. A cooling fan has quit and the controls are too hot.
- Door stays latched when self clean is over. The latch motor is stuck or the sensor reads hot.
- Upper oven works and lower does not on a double. Each has its own elements, sensor and relays.
What to look at before you call
Switch off the oven's breaker and count to sixty. Many control faults clear with that. Check that control lock and Sabbath mode are off. Clip a thermometer to the center rack and set 350. Wait 20 minutes past the preheat tone and read it. Tell us the number. Look at the door gasket for gaps. Write down any error on the screen word for word. Skip the self clean cycle until the fault is fixed.
What happens at the visit
Booking is open online, or by phone between 6 AM and 9 PM. We try to come the same day. The tech pulls a wall oven forward on a support so he can reach the back. He checks elements, the sensor, both convection fans, the cooling fan and the boards. The diagnostic for a home is $79. Once he finds the cause, he gives one price for labor and parts. Say yes and the diagnostic fee is waived. We are an independent company. Our techs are licensed and insured. All of them passed a background check. A 30-day repair warranty backs the work.
Whether to repair a JennAir oven
A JennAir wall oven sits in a cutout sized for it, with trim that matches the rest of the kitchen. That makes repair the better value most times. Sensors, elements, fan motors, latches and igniters are common parts. Whirlpool supplies many of them. A display for a much older Jenn-Air can be hard to get. If it is, we tell you before you pay for anything past the diagnosis.
We repair JennAir ovens in Lincoln Park, Evanston and the western suburbs. See our Illinois appliance repair page. We also cover Houston, D.C., Northern Virginia and Los Angeles. All brands are on our oven repair page. Burner trouble belongs at JennAir range repair. If guided recipes give odd results but manual bake is fine, tell us. That points to a fan or sensor, not the recipe.
