Hestan keeps its dishwasher line simple. There is a single 24 inch model with a tall stainless tub. It can take a custom overlay panel to match your cabinets. Its controls are tucked along the door's top edge. An LED shines on the floor while a cycle runs, since the machine is rated at 42 dB. That is quiet enough that you may not hear a fault start.
The wash side uses what Hestan calls the Double Axial Washing System. The racks are stainless steel with a nylon coat. We repair this model along with the other products listed on our Hestan repair page.
Water that stays after a cycle is our most common Hestan dishwasher call. Start with the filter, which often holds a wad of food or a bit of glass. Next comes the drain pump. A seed or a broken stem can jam its small impeller. If the pump hums but moves no water, the motor has failed and we replace it. The drain hose behind the Hestan can kink, so we trace it. A newly fitted disposal whose knockout plug was never removed blocks the drain too.
This dishwasher has AquaStop leak detection. When water reaches the base pan, the machine cuts the water supply. The cycle stops and the drain pump may run on and on. Owners often think the control has failed. In truth the machine is doing its job.
Our tech pulls the toe kick and looks for the source. The usual sources are a tired door gasket, a hose clamp that worked loose or a split sump seal. Extra soap makes foam that climbs over the door lip as well. We fix the leak, dry the pan and reset the system.
At the end of a cycle, the door opens a little by design. Hestan calls this open air drying. If the door stays shut, the latch or its small motor may be stuck. Dishes then sit in steam and stay wet.
Poor drying can also mean cold water. A hidden heating element warms the wash. When it fails, grease stays on plates and the cycle runs long. We test the element and the sensor that reads water heat. Gritty glasses point at blocked spray arms or a weak wash pump. We pull the arms and clear each hole.
If the floor light is on but nothing happens, open and close the door firmly. A door that is not fully latched will pause the cycle.
