Fulgor sells two styles of fridge here. The first is a 36 inch French door model with a freezer drawer below. There is a standard version and a Pro version. The second style is the built-in column. Fulgor showed its column line in 2022. A fridge column is all fresh food, with no freezer. A matching freezer column can stand beside it.
Fulgor says the columns are made in Italy. They take custom panels and sit flush with the cabinets. Inside are steel crisper bins on metal glides and LED lights. A touch panel sets the temperature. Each column has its own compressor and its own evaporator. Only the fresh food side is covered here. We repair the full Fulgor Milano appliance line as an independent company.
Lights prove the unit has power. Cooling is a separate chain of parts. We follow it in order.
The evaporator fan comes first. It blows cold air off the coil and into the food space. If it stops, the coil gets cold and the shelves do not. You may hear it buzz or hear nothing. Next is the condenser. It dumps heat into the room. On a built-in, it breathes through a grille. Dust on the coil or a blocked grille makes the fridge run long and warm. Last is the defrost system.
As a Fulgor fridge runs, its coil collects frost. Several times a day a heater clears it. When that heater, its sensor or the control quits, the ice stays and grows. Air can no longer pass through the coil. The fridge warms slowly over a week. Then it may cool again for a day after the door is left open. That pattern is the clue. We test each defrost part and clear the ice.
Melted frost leaves through a small drain. Bits of food or ice can plug it. Water then pools under the bins or runs out onto the floor. We clear the drain line and flush it. On French door models, a water line for the ice maker can also leak at a fitting. We check behind and below the unit.
A flush column has tight gaps on every side. A sagging door will rub the next cabinet and fail to seal. Warm air leaks in and you see beads of water inside. We adjust the hinges and check the door gasket. A torn gasket is replaced. On French door models, the center flap between the doors can stick and hold a door open.
A rattle from the back is often a fan blade hitting ice. A loud hum at start-up can be the compressor working against a dirty condenser. Worse is a click every few minutes and no cooling at all. The compressor is trying to start and cannot. Its start parts get tested before we call the compressor dead.
A warm Fulgor fridge cannot wait, so these calls go to the same day when possible. For Fulgor fridge owners the line opens 6 AM and shuts 9 PM, seven days. In a home the fridge diagnosis is $79. Approve the fix and it is waived. A fixed price, labor and parts, is quoted before the start. Fridge techs are background checked. They work licensed and insured. Common fan motors and defrost parts come with them. A warranty covers the fridge repair.
A built-in column is worth fixing in almost every case. The cabinets and panels were made around it. Fans, defrost parts and gaskets are fair repairs. An old Fulgor with a dead compressor is where both paths get priced. Fulgor parts may come from Italy, so ask us about the wait.
