Technician was able to repair the refrigerator by replacing the seal and cleaning the motor. He decided that it didn’t need a new fan. Very prompt service.

Amazing service! Emil did such a great job repairing my front loading washer. The door gasket needed to be changed. When I used the washer the next, we still had a leak. He made the extra effort to come back that day and found we also had a leaking hose, which he repaired on the spot. Amazing customer service A+.

A+ Appliance Repair saved Thanksgiving! 🦃 Our refrigerator died TWO DAYS before hosting 20 people. Called in a panic for fridge repair near me and they understood the emergency. Sam came out same-day to our Georgetown Washington DC home, diagnosed a failing compressor, and worked late to fix it. He even helped reorganize our food back in the fridge. These people are lifesavers - professional, fast, and they genuinely care. Worth every penny!

My Kenmore gas wall oven would not heat. When I called, the young lady (Bernadette) that answered was so kind and attentive. Very professional, friendly, and efficient. Found and explained the issue to me, politely asked if I wanted the service for the quoted price and after consent, fixed problem. I was very pleased. Thank you, A+👍🏾

Uneven baking in an AeroTech oven

AeroTech is the name Fisher and Paykel gives its fan oven system. A fan at the back pulls air across a round heating ring. Then it pushes that warm air around every rack. When cookies brown on one side only, that pair is where we start. A fan motor that has slowed will still spin, but it moves too little air. A ring element with a break heats in patches or not at all.

The door matters too. A torn gasket lets heat spill out the front. A hinge that has sagged leaves a gap at the top corner. Both make the oven run long and bake light at the front. Our Fisher and Paykel brand page covers the rest of the kitchen line.

The oven types we work on

Fisher and Paykel sells single and double wall ovens in 24 and 30 inch widths. They come in Minimal, Contemporary, Professional and Classic styles. Beside the plain convection ovens there are two combi types. One adds steam to the fan heat. The other adds microwave power and is sold as a convection speed oven. Many models have a touch screen, a food probe and a self-clean cycle.

We also repair the oven that sits under the burners of a range. The heating parts are much the same. Access is different, since a range pulls out and a wall oven is screwed into a cabinet.

No heat at all

An electric oven that stays cold has a short list of causes. We test them in this order:

  • The bake or broil element, checked for a break.
  • The heat sensor, a thin probe at the back wall.
  • The safety thermostat that cuts power if the oven overheats.
  • The relay on the control board that feeds the elements.

In a gas range oven, the igniter is the usual cause. It glows orange but gets too weak to open the gas valve. You may smell a faint whiff of gas and see no flame. Shut the oven off if that happens.

Steam ovens have their own troubles

A combi steam oven boils water drawn from a little tank. Minerals in hard water build scale in the steam maker and its lines. Then the oven asks for a descale cycle again and again. If the cycle does not clear the message, scale has blocked a line or a sensor. Water pooling on the oven floor after steaming can mean the drain path is clogged. We flush the system and test the pump before we talk about parts.

A door that stays locked after self-clean

The clean cycle runs very hot, and the door latch holds shut until things cool. Give it a full hour after the cycle ends. If the door still will not open, the latch motor has likely failed, or the switch beside it. Clean cycle heat can also blow a thermal fuse. After that the oven has lights but no heat. Do not pry the door. The glass is costly and the latch bends.

What to check on your own

Look at the clock. Many ovens will not start a bake until the time is set. Make sure a delay or demo mode is not on. Reset the breaker, since a double breaker can trip on one side only. Pull the racks and look at the elements for a blister or a split. Note any code on the screen and tell us what it says.

Cost, timing and the choice to repair

A home visit to find the fault costs $79. If you have us fix it, that amount is not charged. We quote the whole job up front as one fixed price. No work starts until you say so. Most oven visits happen on the day of your call. Oven techs are on the road from 6 AM until 9 PM, the full week. We are an independent repair company with licensed, insured, background checked techs.

Since a wall oven is cut into the cabinet, repair usually wins. Elements, fans, sensors and latches are all fair fixes. A cracked cavity liner or a board that is no longer made may tip it the other way.

Oven owners in the District can find details on our D.C. service page. Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and Northern Virginia are covered too. For burner trouble, see Fisher and Paykel range repair. Drawer and speed models are on the Fisher and Paykel microwave repair page. Other brands are on our oven repair page. A good habit for any AeroTech oven is to keep foil off the floor, since it traps heat under the pan.
