One range, two fuel systems
Most Dacor ranges we see are dual fuel. Gas feeds the burners. A 240 volt line feeds the oven. That matters when something breaks. If the burners work and the oven is cold, the gas side is fine. The fault is in an element, a sensor, a relay or the breaker. If the oven bakes and a burner will not light, we look at the igniter and the gas valve.
So tell us which half has quit when you call. It helps the tech load the right parts.
Dacor range models
Dacor builds dual fuel ranges in 36 and 48 inch widths, in the Contemporary and Transitional styles. The burners are solid brass. The strongest one reaches 22,000 BTU and turns down to a 750 BTU simmer. The oven has Steam-Assist, which adds steam to keep meat juicy. A small OLED touch panel runs the oven and links to SmartThings over Wi-Fi.
Dacor also makes all gas ranges in the same two widths. Some 48 inch models have a griddle built into the top. The 30 inch Transitional range is induction, with a glass top and two 7 inch zones that join for a big pan.
Top burner faults on a Dacor range
Clicking with no flame is the top complaint. A dirty or cracked igniter is the first thing we check. Steady clicking on all burners means a wet spark switch or a tired spark module. Yellow flames, or flames that float above the brass, mean the gas and air blend is wrong. That can follow a change from natural gas to propane that was not set up right.
These burners have two rings and two valves. If you lose only the low simmer, the inner ring is blocked or its valve is stuck. We clear the brass ports and test each ring alone.
Oven faults by fuel type
- Dual fuel, no bake heat: a burned out bake element or a failed relay on the board.
- Dual fuel, no steam: an empty or loose water tank, or scale in the line.
- All gas, oven will not light: a weak oven igniter that glows but cannot open the gas valve.
- Any model, wrong temperature: a bad oven sensor or a leaking door gasket.
- Any model, door drops or will not close: worn hinges. These doors are heavy.
- Induction, zone will not heat: a failed coil or power board under the glass.
A few checks before the visit
Find the breaker for the range and reset it. On dual fuel, a half-tripped breaker kills the oven but leaves the spark working. Make sure the gas shutoff behind the range is open. Dry the burner caps and seat them flat. If the panel is frozen, leave the breaker off for a full minute. Do not pull a 48 inch range out alone. It is very heavy and the floor will scratch.
How we price a Dacor range repair
We come out for $79 on a home range. That pays for the testing. Go ahead with the repair and the $79 is dropped. You will know the whole cost, parts plus labor, before the work begins. Range visits run from 6 AM, with the last one done by 9 PM, all seven days. Same-day visits are common, and you can book online.
A+ is a family business. We are independent of Dacor. Techs are insured, hold a license and pass a background check. They bring igniters, switches and sensors with them. We back the repair with a 30-day repair warranty.
Keeping a Dacor range or letting it go
A Dacor range costs a lot to replace. Almost every part on one can be changed, so repair is the usual answer. An igniter, an element, a hinge set or a fan is routine. The harder case is an older model made before 2016, when a control board is out of stock. Before quoting, we confirm the Dacor part can be had, which spares you a long wait.
Dacor began in Pasadena, and we still fix a lot of its ranges around Los Angeles. Our California service page lists the towns. Dacor range calls are also taken around Houston and Chicago, plus D.C. and Northern Virginia. Related pages: all Dacor repairs, Dacor rangetop repair, Dacor oven repair and general range repair. If your griddle heats on one end only, mention it, since that is a separate element from the burners.
