Know your Bertazzoni range type
Bertazzoni sells ranges in four widths. They are 24, 30, 36 and 48 inches. Each comes in one of three fuel setups.
- All gas. Flame up top, plus a gas oven and broiler underneath.
- Dual fuel. Flame up top, but the self-clean oven runs on electric.
- Induction. A glass top with five or six heating zones and an electric oven.
Gas tops use brass burners. Many 48 inch models add a griddle. Bertazzoni groups them into its Professional line, its Master line and a classic styled third line. They also come in bold paint colors. We repair every one of them, colors included. Our Bertazzoni brand page has more on the company.
Burners that click, sputter or go out
Each gas burner has two small parts beside it. One is the spark igniter. The other is a thermocouple, which is a flame sensor. Bertazzoni says it fits a thermocouple to each top burner and to the oven burners as well. If the flame goes out, the sensor cools and shuts the gas.
So when a burner lights and then quits as you release the knob, think thermocouple first. When it clicks and will not light, think igniter or a wet burner. When it clicks all the time, a spark switch behind the knob is stuck. And when the flame is uneven, the brass cap or ring is out of place. Most of these are same-visit fixes.
Gas oven problems
A Bertazzoni gas oven lights much like the top burners do. There is a spark and a safety sensor at the oven burner. If the oven lights and drops out after a minute, the sensor is the likely cause. If it never lights, we check the igniter, the gas valve and the wiring. A slow oven with a good flame often has a tired door gasket. Heat leaks out as fast as the burner makes it.
Many Bertazzoni ranges have a dial gauge on the front that shows oven heat. If the gauge and your own oven thermometer disagree by a lot, the thermostat may be off.
Electric oven and induction top problems
These ovens heat with elements. A bake element that has burned through leaves the broiler to do the job. Food browns on top and stays raw below. The convection fan matters too. When it stops, one side of a tray comes out pale. Self-clean models have a door lock. It can stick after a clean cycle. A thermal fuse can also open from that heat and leave the oven dead.
On induction tops, use a pan a magnet sticks to. If a single zone stays cold under a proper pan, suspect the coil or the power board beneath it. A top that cuts out halfway through a meal may have a blocked or worn cooling fan below the glass. Keep the vent slots along the base clear.
Knobs, griddle and small parts
Bertazzoni knobs are metal and heavy. The valve stem behind a knob can get stiff with old grease. A knob that is hard to turn should be fixed before the stem snaps. The griddle on a 48 inch range is heated by its own burner or element, by model. If it will not heat, tell us if the rest of the top works. Oven lights, door hinges and rack guides are quick repairs.
What our Bertazzoni range visit costs
Home diagnostics are $79. That $79 is waived if you book the repair. A firm figure, labor and parts counted, is put to you ahead of the work. We carry igniters and common sensors on the truck. Bertazzoni parts that are not stocked locally get ordered, and we tell you how long. We are independent, not a Bertazzoni service agent. Techs are screened, and each holds a license and insurance. Plenty of range calls get a visit that day. The phones are staffed 6 AM to 9 PM, seven days. Range work is covered by our 30-day repair warranty.
Repairing beats replacing on most Bertazzoni ranges
The body and the oven box are heavy steel. The parts that fail are small. A range in a special color is also hard to replace with a match. So we repair far more of these than we write off. The weak spot is the wait for parts. If you cannot be without a stove, say so. We will give our best guess on timing first.
Try these before you call. Dry the burners after a spill. Seat the brass rings and caps in the right order. Hold the knob in for five seconds after lighting. Check the breaker. We fix Bertazzoni ranges across Northern Virginia, and our Virginia page shows where. We also work in D.C., Illinois, Texas and California. See range repair for other makes. No oven on yours? Go to Bertazzoni cooktop repair. When you call, read us the tag inside the lower drawer or door frame. It names the fuel type.
