ZLINE refrigerators on the market
The best known ZLINE fridge is the 36 inch French door model. It comes in a standard-depth version and a counter-depth version. The standard-depth model has a water dispenser on the door and a dual ice maker. Counter-depth models have water and ice dispensers as well. ZLINE also lists built-in, column and undercounter refrigeration.
The controls are digital with an LED display. They include Super Cool and Super Freeze modes for a fast chill after a big grocery run. Finishes are fingerprint resistant stainless or black stainless. For the rest of the brand, see our ZLINE repair page.
Fridge side warm, freezer side fine
This split is a classic. Cold air is made at the evaporator coil and pushed around by a fan. If frost blocks the coil, or the fan stops, the fresh food side warms first. The freezer can stay cold for days and hide the problem.
We pull the ZLINE's rear panel to see the coil. Heavy frost tells us the ZLINE's defrost heater, defrost sensor or control has failed. A clear coil with a dead fan means a fan motor. A damper that is stuck shut will also keep cold air out of the fridge side.
Both sides warm
When nothing is cold, we start at the back and bottom. A condenser coil wrapped in dust and pet hair cannot release heat. The compressor runs hot and may shut off. We clean the coil and test the condenser fan. If the compressor will not start at all, we check its relay and the control board. A sealed system leak is the worst case, and we test for it before quoting.
Ice maker and water dispenser faults
With two ice makers and a door dispenser, a ZLINE has a lot of water parts. Each has a fill valve, a fill tube and a mold. No ice from one maker and good ice from the other helps narrow it down. The common faults are a frozen fill tube, a failed inlet valve or an ice maker motor that has quit.
A dispenser that drips after you fill a glass often has air in the line or a worn valve. No water at all, with good ice, points at the door switch or a frozen line in the door. An old water filter slows everything. Change it on schedule.
Frost, leaks and door seals
Snowy frost on freezer food means damp air is getting in. Check the door gasket for gaps and the drawer for a bag caught in the track. French doors have a flip-up bar between them. If it does not fold in, the doors will not seal. Water under the crisper comes from a plugged defrost drain. We clear it and flush the line.
Things to check first
- See if Super Cool or Super Freeze got left on by mistake.
- Leave a few inches of space at the back and sides for airflow.
- Confirm each ZLINE ice maker is switched on with its bin seated.
- Feel the door seals for cold air leaking with the doors shut.
Fees, timing and the repair or replace choice
A warm ZLINE is urgent, so a same-day visit is our goal. The home diagnostic is $79 and is waived once you approve our repair quote. That fridge quote is fixed, and it counts labor and parts. Fridge help is a call away 6 AM to 9 PM daily. You can book online at any time.
A+ is family owned and independent of ZLINE. Our techs are background checked, insured and licensed. Fan motors, valves and defrost parts for common models ride on the truck. We back repairs with a 30-day repair warranty.
Fans, valves, ice makers, defrost parts and gaskets are worth repairing. A dead ZLINE compressor or a leak in the sealed system is where we slow down. On a mid-priced fridge past its early years, that repair may cost too much. We will give you the number and our honest view. Homes in Northern Virginia, the District, greater Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston can all book with us. Visit the Northern Virginia service page or read our refrigerator repair guide. Our techs also do ZLINE dishwasher repair. If you leave for a long trip, switch off both ice makers so a stuck valve cannot flood the bin.
