KitchenAid has built dishwashers since 1949. Current models come with top controls or front controls. Many carry a PrintShield finish that hides smudges.
Three features matter when we diagnose one. The FreeFlex third rack has jets that spray all around it. The ProWash cycle uses a sensor to pick the wash and the water level. The Fan-Enabled ProDry system moves hot air across the dishes after the wash. Each of these adds parts that can fail.
Water left in the bottom points to the drain path. We start at the filter. Many models have three levels of filtering under the lower rack. Grease and labels pack in there.
Next is the drain pump. Glass chips and seeds jam its small impeller. A humming pump with no water moving is often jammed. A silent pump may be dead, or the board is not sending power. We also check the drain hose for kinks and the sink air gap for clogs.
Poor cleaning has a short list of causes.
We run a test cycle and watch the water level and spray with the door cracked.
A wet load after a full cycle means the dry stage failed. The ProDry system needs the heater and the fan both working. We test the heater with a meter and spin the fan by hand. A vent door that sticks shut gives the same result. Low rinse aid makes drying worse, so we check that too.
A drip at the front corners is often the door gasket. A leak under the machine has other causes. A pump seal, a cracked hose or a loose clamp can all drip onto the floor. Extra soap builds suds, and the foam pushes past the door. We pull the lower panel and run the machine to find the wet spot.
If the fault stays, it is time for a tech.
Dishwasher calls are taken all week, 6 AM at the start and 9 PM at the end. Same-day slots are common for a dishwasher call. A home diagnostic is $79. You see a fixed price for parts and labor before the tech starts. Approve it and we waive the $79. Techs are background checked, licensed and insured, and the work has a warranty.
