JennAir dishwashers in short
JennAir makes 24 inch built-in dishwashers. They come in the RISE look, the NOIR look, or panel-ready to hide behind a cabinet front. The TriFecta models are rated at 38 dBA, which is very quiet. Newer fully integrated models add a third rack that has its own wash spray. Every model hides its controls along the top lip of the door. The brand belongs to Whirlpool. Our JennAir appliance repair page goes over the rest of the kitchen.
How the TriFecta wash system works
Three things set it apart. First, the water passes through three filter stages so grit is not sprayed back on the dishes. Second, the wash arms are fed under pressure. Third, the machine washes two zones in turn, not both at once. It sends water to the lower rack, then to the upper. That saves water and keeps the noise down. A valve called a diverter does the switching. The same small pump has to push through clean filters to keep pressure up. When filters clog, the spray turns weak and the top rack suffers first.
Drain problems we fix
Water in the tub at the end of a cycle is the top JennAir dishwasher call. We pull the filters and check the sump for glass and seeds. We test the drain pump. It may run and move nothing if debris has locked the impeller. We check the hose where it meets the disposal or the sink tailpiece. If a new disposal still has its knockout plug, no water can pass. A check valve stuck open lets dirty water roll back in after the pump stops.
Leaks and where they start
- Drips from the bottom of the door. The door seal is worn flat or has food stuck in it.
- Suds pushing out. Hand soap or too much detergent was used.
- Water from under the machine. The pump seal, the diverter seal or the inlet valve is leaking.
- Puddle at one front corner. The unit is out of level, or the door is racked.
- Leak only with the top rack full. A tall item is turning spray toward the door vent.
Poor cleaning, stalled cycles and drying
A dirty top rack over a clean bottom rack says the diverter is likely stuck on one zone. If everything is dull, we look at the wash pump and the water heat. A cycle that runs for hours often has a heater or sensor fault. The control keeps waiting for a temp it never reaches. Wet dishes can be a dead heater, a vent that will not open or an empty rinse aid cup. A panel that will not light may be a door latch that is not sensing the door.
What you can do before we arrive
Twist the filter cup loose and lift it out. Rinse the cup and the flat screen under it. Check the spray arm holes for seeds. Run hot water at the sink first so the fill is hot. Use fresh detergent and top up the rinse aid. Peek below the sink to see if the drain hose is bent. If water is leaking, turn off the supply valve and the breaker.
How we quote and what the visit costs
A panel-ready JennAir is screwed to the counter and wrapped in cabinet trim. Our tech frees it without marking the wood. He runs the service test, which steps through fill, wash, heat and drain. A home diagnostic visit runs $79. Hire us for the repair and you never pay it. You get a firm price, parts and labor, before we turn a screw. A+ is family owned and independent. Nobody is sent out unlicensed, uninsured or without a background check. Our 30-day repair warranty stays with the fixed dishwasher.
Pumps, seals, valves, latches and diverters are all worth fixing on a JennAir. A custom panel adds to the case for repair. We think about a new unit when the tub or the door liner has failed, or when several large parts go at once on an old machine. These dishwashers are common in Arlington, Vienna and Reston. See our Northern Virginia appliance repair page. We also serve D.C., Los Angeles, Houston and Chicago. Our main dishwasher repair page handles every other make. The fridge across the kitchen is covered at JennAir refrigerator repair. If your model has the top utensil rack, slide it out now and then. Rinse the track it rides on. Food there feeds right back into the wash.
