Check the Cove warranty before anything else

Cove is a young brand. The Sub-Zero Group launched it in 2019 to sit beside Sub-Zero fridges and Wolf ranges. Every Cove in a home today is fairly new.

That matters for your wallet. Cove dishwashers were sold with a five-year warranty on parts and service. If yours is inside that window, call the maker first. A+ is an independent repair company, and our work does not run through the maker's warranty. We would sooner tell you that now than bill you for a repair you could get free.

Water sitting in the tub

Pull the lower rack and look at the floor of the tub. The filter sits there. Food, labels and bits of glass pack into it. Twist it out and wash it under the tap. Put it back until it locks.

Still water after that? Look under the sink. The drain hose can kink when a trash bin gets shoved against it. If a new disposal went in lately, check its knockout plug. A plug left in the disposal blocks the Cove drain fully.

When those are clear, the drain pump is next. It can jam on a shard of glass or wear out. We pull it, check the wheel and test the motor.

Where a Cove leaks

• At the door front. The tub gasket is worn, or the door is not closing square against it.
• At the door corners. Too much soap, or the wrong kind. Hand dish soap will foam right out of the tub.
• Under the machine. A hose clamp, the pump seal or the inlet valve is dripping.

Water in the base is a bigger deal than a drip at the door. Many dishwashers carry a float or sensor down there that halts the cycle. If your Cove stops mid-wash and will not restart, it may have found water in its base. Do not keep resetting it. Turn off the breaker and book a visit.

With a wood panel on the door, leaks cost more than a wet floor. Water wicks into the panel edge and swells it. Fast action saves the panel.

Wet dishes and gritty glasses

Drying depends on a hot final rinse and on rinse aid. Fill the rinse aid first. It is the cheap fix. If plates still come out wet and cool, the heater may have failed. Plastic will always hold drops, so judge by the glasses and plates.

Grit on glasses means dirty water is not being filtered or sprayed right. Clean the filter. Spin each spray arm by hand and look for seeds stuck in the holes. If the Cove arms are clear and cleaning is still poor, the fill may be low from a tired inlet valve.

Hidden controls and Wi-Fi

You do not see buttons on the front of a Cove. The controls sit out of sight when the door is shut. It looks clean, but the panel meets a puff of steam each time someone opens the door early.

A panel that ignores touches, or lights that blink in an odd order, points to the control board or the ribbon cable that links the panel to it. We test both. We will not name a fault code here, since we could not confirm the list on the maker's site.

Cove can also link to a phone over Wi-Fi. If the app drops out but the dishwasher runs fine from the door, look at the router. That is a network issue.

Cove repair cost and scheduling with A+

An A+ diagnostic on a Cove in a home is $79. Approve the Cove repair and that $79 is waived. The Cove quote is one fixed price with parts and labor, and it comes before we start.

Cove visits start as early as 6 AM. The day's final Cove visit ends at 9 PM, and weekends are the same. You can book a Cove call online, and most are seen that day. A+ opened in 2015, and the founding family still owns it. The Cove tech we send has a license, insurance and a finished background check. Our own repair warranty covers the work.

Pumps and valves for common models are often on hand. A Cove board or door part is ordered by serial number, and we set the return visit when we order it.

Should an out-of-warranty Cove be fixed

Yes, nearly every time. The oldest Cove is still young for a dishwasher. A pump, valve, gasket or board is a fair repair. A panel-ready unit also wears your custom cabinet front, and that panel may not line up on another brand.
