Bosch error codes we see most
A Bosch dishwasher stops and shows an E code when something goes wrong. These are the ones owners call us about most:
- E15: water in the base pan. The leak sensor under the tub is wet.
- E24: the water can't drain. The drain hose may be kinked or the filter clogged.
- E25: the drain pump is blocked, often by glass, a pit or a label.
- E22: the filter is clogged.
- E09: a heating fault, so the water does not get hot.
E22 and E24 often clear once you clean the filter and straighten the drain hose. E15 is different. Turn off the water to the dishwasher and call us, because the leak is still there even when the floor looks dry.
The 100, 300, 500, 800 and Benchmark series
Bosch sells its dishwashers in series. The 100 and 300 are the main lines, the 500 and 800 add more features, and Benchmark is the top line. Many 800 Series and Benchmark models dry with CrystalDry, which uses a mineral that heats as it takes in moisture. Many models also show a light on the floor while they run, so you can tell the cycle is on.
We repair all of these series, from the base 100 to Benchmark.
Wet dishes after the cycle
Bosch dishwashers have no heating coil at the bottom of the tub. They dry by condensation, so plastic often comes out wet. That is normal. If glass and steel are wet too, check the rinse aid first. Bosch drying depends on it. If rinse aid is full and dishes still stay wet, the heater or a sensor may have failed, and we test those.
Drain trouble
Drain calls are the most common. The filter in the floor of the tub clogs first. Under it sits a small pump cover, and below that the drain pump. A shard of glass or a fruit pit can jam the pump wheel and bring up E24 or E25. We clear the jam and test the pump. If the pump runs and water still sits, the drain hose or the sink connection is blocked. A new garbage disposal with its knockout plug still in place is a common cause.
Leaks and the E15 code
When E15 shows, water has reached the base pan under the tub and a float has tripped. The water can come from a split hose, a worn pump seal, a door seal that no longer sits tight or too much soap foam. We pull the dishwasher out, dry the base and run a fill so we can see where the drip starts.
What to check before we come
- Twist out the filter and rinse it under the tap.
- Spin the spray arms by hand and clear any blocked holes.
- Top up the rinse aid.
- Look under the sink for a kinked drain hose.
- Turn the dishwasher off and on once to see if the code comes back.
The visit, the fee and whether to fix it
The service call is $79 for a home and $149 for a business, and it's free when you go ahead with the repair. You get the price before any work starts. Our trained technicians are licensed and insured, we take calls every day from 6am to 9pm, and same-day visits are often possible. Every repair has a 30-day repair warranty.
Is a Bosch worth fixing? Usually. Pumps, inlet valves, door latches and seals cost a small share of a new dishwasher plus the install. A rusted-through tub or a control board that is no longer made can make a new machine the better choice, and we will say so.
We fix Bosch dishwashers around Chicago and the suburbs, plus Los Angeles, Houston, Northern Virginia and D.C. For other makes, see dishwasher repair. Have a Bosch washer too? See Bosch washer repair, or the Bosch appliance repair page for everything we fix.
