BlueStar grill repair starts with a plain fact. BlueStar does not sell a backyard grill. Its grilling gear is built for indoors: the charbroiler on a range or rangetop and the Salamander infrared broiler. We fix both, and we also repair outdoor gas grills from other brands. Here is what goes wrong and what we do.

You will not find an outdoor grill in the BlueStar catalog. The brand puts its grills inside the kitchen. There are two products.
The first is the charbroiler. It is a grill section built into a range or rangetop. BlueStar sells a 24 inch RNB rangetop that is all charbroiler. Wider models pair a charbroiler with burners or a griddle. The Platinum Series has a charbroiler you can swap in over the burners. A plate under the grate turns meat drippings into smoke for flavor.
The second is the Salamander broiler. It is an infrared unit that mounts on the wall. BlueStar rates it at 11,000 BTU per burner and 1,850 degrees. The rack moves to four heights.

A charbroiler lives a hard life. Fat drips through the grate onto the burner all night. The burner ports clog. The igniter gets coated.
The signs are easy to spot. You hear clicks but get no flame. Or the back half sears while the front stays cool. We lift the grates and the plate below them. Then we clear the ports and clean the igniter tip. A cracked igniter or a stuck gas valve gets replaced.
Big flare-ups are a grease problem, not a gas problem. The drip tray under the charbroiler fills up. When it does, the grease can catch. Empty it after each heavy cook.
An infrared burner has a ceramic face with tiny holes. Gas burns on that face until it glows red-orange. That glow is what sears a steak in a minute or two.
Grease spatter can plug the holes. Then part of the face stays dark. A hard knock can crack the ceramic. A cracked face burns with a blue jet at the break. We replace the burner when we see that. We also test the igniter and the gas valve on each side.
Do not poke the ceramic face of an infrared burner. It breaks easily.
Testing a charbroiler or broiler at a home is $79. Once the fix is approved, the $79 drops off. You hear one price that covers parts and labor. We do not start until you agree.

For a built-in charbroiler, yes. It is part of a range or rangetop that costs a lot to replace. Igniters, burners and valves are single parts. We can change one and leave the rest alone. Each repair has a warranty.
The Salamander is the same story. A new infrared burner costs far less than a new broiler. We would only pause if the body has rusted through. That is rare on an indoor unit.
