Dryer faults we see most in Winfield homes
Three dryer calls come in from Winfield more than any other: a drum turning with no heat, a dryer that will not start, and a load still damp after a full cycle. No heat on an electric dryer usually means a burnt heating element or a blown thermal fuse. On a gas model it is the igniter or the gas valve coils. A dryer that will not start often has a broken door switch. Damp loads trace to a lint-filled vent. Winfield turned from a farming and creamery town into a residential suburb once the toll roads went in during the 1960s, and our Glendale Heights shop is close, so same-day visits are the norm.

Dryer vents that go up through the roof in Winfield ranches
In a one-story Winfield house, the dryer vent may go up, not out. It climbs through the attic and ends at a cap on the roof. Lint has to fight gravity the whole way. Wet lint sticks, the cap flap freezes shut in winter, and birds like the warm opening. The dryer then runs long, gets hot and shuts off early.
We measure the airflow at the dryer before we blame any part. If the vent is the problem, you will know before you pay for a repair. Gas, electric and ventless dryers are all covered. Call (312) 600-6540 for a same-day time in Winfield.

Dryer calls come in four kinds. Squealing, thumping or grinding from a worn drum bearing, roller or belt. A dryer that will not turn on, often a thermal fuse or door switch once the breaker is ruled out. A drum that spins but never heats, which is a heating element, igniter or thermostat. A dryer that heats but takes two cycles to dry, which is almost always airflow: a clogged lint duct or vent. We repair gas, electric, ventless condenser and heat pump, and compact stackable dryers across all major brands. Repairs start from $199, and the $79 diagnostic is waived when we do the repair.
