Villa Park dryers, from squeal to no heat
Squealing, thumping, no heat, no start: that covers most of the dryer work we do in Villa Park. A squeal is almost always the belt. A thump each turn of the drum is a worn bearing or support rollers. No heat comes from a heating element or thermal fuse on electric units and from an igniter or gas valve coils on gas units. No start is usually a door switch. Villa Park's housing has a median construction year of 1958, so many laundry rooms sit in 1950s and 1960s houses that have been through several generations of appliances, often on the original vent run. We drive over from Glendale Heights, usually the same day you call.

Basement dryers and frozen vent flaps in Villa Park
Some Villa Park houses from the 1950s keep the dryer in the basement. The vent climbs from there and exits through the foundation or a wall. That run is long, and lint settles in it. In winter, the flap outside can freeze shut. Then the hot, wet air has nowhere to go. Clothes stay damp and the dryer runs hot. The thermal fuse, a small safety part, blows to stop it.
We clear the run, free the flap and replace the fuse. We also check the heating element while the dryer is open. Villa Park is close to our Glendale Heights shop.
When your dryer breaks down, it can be a real pain. Not only do you have to deal with wet clothes, but you also have to find a way to get your clothes dry in a hurry. Fortunately, there's no need to worry. We repair all dryer brands and models, and our technicians are licensed, insured, and factory-trained. We understand that a broken dryer is a real inconvenience, which is why we offer same-day service in most cases. If your dryer has been acting up, A+ Appliance Repair and Maintenance can help.
Dryer calls come in four kinds. Squealing, thumping or grinding from a worn drum bearing, roller or belt. A dryer that will not turn on, often a thermal fuse or door switch once the breaker is ruled out. A drum that spins but never heats, which is a heating element, igniter or thermostat. A dryer that heats but takes two cycles to dry, which is almost always airflow: a clogged lint duct or vent. We repair gas, electric, ventless condenser and heat pump, and compact stackable dryers across all major brands. Repairs start from $199, and the $79 diagnostic is waived when we do the repair.
